Louisa Knightley is a command officer currently stationed aboard the USS Devonshire as CO of the beta shift. She is widely regarded as an attractive, capable and generally good Starfleet officer, although she has an authority problem which has yet to be any real problem in her current posting.

She catches the eye of Captain Marcus Stone during her tenure on the bridge in the Gamma Sigma crisis of A Mocking Time and handles herself rather competently for a member of the Devonshire crew, much to the disgust of Kathryn Tremane, who for reasons unknown cannot abide the woman and her seeming familiarity with Captain Stone.

Authors Note
Knightley is to be elevated to a mainstream character in season 2, where she will eventually replace the XO of the ship.
Synopsis
The crew of the Devonshire are seemingly beginning to make themselves at home on Gamma Sigma VI after finding that they have just enough fuel to raid the nearby oasis planet of Gamma Sigma V. Stone orders a continual watch on the system using their last orbital probe to watch for a rescue.

Meanwhile, in Orbit around Vulcan, the USS Devonshire appears to fly out from within a temporal anomaly, a real pretty purple one too, which then abruptly disappears before any of the surrounding ships can get any real readings on it (aided by a thermonuclear explosion which destorys the ass-end of the Devonshire herself). On a whim, one of the commanders of the science ships orbitng Vulcan is dispatched to follow up a tenuous lead on the survivors of the crew of the Devonshire, and stumbles upon Devonshire-Ville just as Whiteford finally loses his marbles and decides to abscond in a shuttlecraft.

Shuttlecraft vs Starship. Shuttlecraft wins? - Well this time aided by the ignorance and plain arrogance of the Captain of the USS Devlin it does, and Whiteford then sets about destroying Stone and the others who have given chase in another shuttle. With the destruction of a floating relic, the beating of a certain XO and the almost disaster of trying to land a Miranda class Starship on a planet, things get interesting real quick as everyone tries to rescue each other and only succeed in creating yet more mayhem.....

Synopsis
With Devonshire returning to spacedock after her close encounter of the dust kind, everything seems to be returning to normal. Hah! Some semblance of normality this is! Doctor Warden's attempts to negate the effects of the Devonshire's crew on Admiral Kirk's hairpiece has created a new lifeform hell bent on assuming control of as many of the crew as possible and turning them into mindless drooling examples of the living dead. No change there then.

What follows is a manic chase through the ship blasting as many wiggy creatures as the crew can find. Can Warden Pronk and MacGregor save the day? Or will Knightley have to pay the ultimate price?

Synopsis
What do you get when you cross a competent command crew with a ship of less than desireables? Read on to find out!!!

A huge unknown craft of immense power and believed belligerent intentions is hurtling towards the very core of the federation and there's not a single ship of the line in the fleet that can even attempt to head it off at the pass.... well, not quite none.

Sitting in Spacedock, almost completed her refit, the USS Devonshire is preparing to depart on her new mission to solve the threat of the anomalies which have been causing havoc for her and her crew lately. Sadly, she's short of a commander as Stone is serving his penance for crimes against the federation at a series of primary and kindergarten schools across the Earth. Fortunately all is not lost, and Starfleet's greatest hero steps into the breach, literally. Admiral James Tiberius Kirk assembles his command crew and sets out aboard the oldest ship in the fleet to save the day. Hopefully.

Author Notes
This was an epiphany episode. I'd gotten to the point where I needed to somehow get the newer crew interacting with the old guys, elevate Knightley to the bridge more as she figures prominently in a couple of the upcoming stories and also I wanted to have some fun with established characters. I think it went rather well, especially the final "standoff" against the villan....

Synopsis
With several crew dead, dying, marooned, mentally unbalanced or just plain lost at sea (Can you say that on a starship?) The USS Devonshire needs restaffing. (And refitting - AGAIN!). Stuck in the Starfleet detailers offices, Stone et al find a unique means of solving their manpower problems, and even find that not everyone is cut out for the haphazard life led by those amongst starfleet who should be forgotten.

In addition to his other woe's, Our captain needs to find himself a new first officer pronto, so he can report for sentancing at his own court hearing... It's a mad mad mad mad world.

The ship itself is starting to get back to her old self (emphasis on the old) - although after a brief stop at Jupiter Station she is minus one warp core, a kind of necessary component if you're exploring deep space.

Author's Notes
This episode marks the introduction of several new characters, most notably Lieutenant Commander Stevens as acting head of security and Commander Harriet Thompson as replacement first officer - replacing the charismatic and much loved (choke!) Roger Whiteford who has been court martialled and inadvertantly kicked onto Admiral Kirk's staff... Only bad things can come from that.

We also finally get the ship fully fitted out with a scientific detail, led by Lt. Maxervall, an academy drop out with a penchant for anything which is likely to go boom! and an ingrained coward to boot, and consisting of some of the most inept and frankly disturbing scientists which the fleet could find and bundle aboard. We also find that some cadets are just not up to even the Devonshire's standard..... more on them later in the season!

Genetically engineered creature created by SWAT as an Anti-Klingon weapon in the immediate aftermath of the Klingon wars (circa 2273). The "Chibble" is an attempt to utilise the natural hatred of Klingons for the common garden Tribble, discovered by Cyrano Jones on deep space station K-7.

SWAT took the Tribble, and added the DNA of the common Terran animal the Chinchilla, to give the harmless bundles of fur a face and teeth (not to mention claws). They also decided to make the things dependant upon certain sugars for a control mechanism. Sadly, all this did was create a sugar rage effect whenever the animals actually came within range of the stuff.

Unlike a Tribble, Chibbles do not breed spontaneously when fed, they require three sexes to breed and even then, will only do so when the mood takes them. They are fiercely territorial and have been known to defend their lairs to the death.

In 2273 the USS Devonshire was called to an emergency situation on a SWAT starbase close to the Klingon neutral zone. On arrival, the crew were presented with a story created by the base commander of a viral plague which required medicines. When landing parties were eventually deployed, they discovered the Chibbles infesting the base and terrorising the crew of the station.

Stone and crew were able to entice the creatures out of hiding with huge cache's of sugary treats, and then beamed the entire population of Chibbles down to a research establishment used to initially create them. The planet has now become known as Chibbilia.

For a number of months members of the Star Traks Forum banded together in an attempt to write a story round-robin style. We now proudly bring you the results of our labors, the astoundingly-coherent premiere of Star Traks: Hootenanny!

Summary
Starfleet is outfitting a new ship, the USS Hootenanny, for a very specific mission: party! The crew comes together and is soon sent on a diplomatic mission to Norealis Four, a non-aligned world which until recently had been plagued by a marauding band of pirates. Having taken care of the initial threat Starfleet orders the Hootenanny into the area to continue diplomatic relations with the Norealans.

Pausing only to take on supplies for a party, the Hootenanny arrives at Norealis Four and after bringing the leaders of the Norealans on board for a luau but is confronted by the pirates, who it turns out hadn't been beaten back. The pirates launch a neuronic weapon that incapacitates the crew and computer of the Hootenanny sending them into a nightmare world
History of the Project
On the 14th of Febuary 2008 Alan Decker suggested the idea of a round robin story written by forum members on the Star Traks forum, using a new crew and ship. Posting first creating the Captain, each participant would then each post in order creating a new character, until the second round when the whole of the crew became 'fair play'. The writing of the story itself on the 19th of Febuary and continued until the 6th of August when Anthony Butler provided the final entry for the story. Alan Decker then acted as a final editor combining all the posts into one coherent story and the finished result was posted on the Star Traks: Unleashed page on the 4th of September. (Lensman's birthday of all days....)!

Synopsis
Commander David Conway's birthday starts badly when Ensign Kessler tries to slink her way into a promotion to engineering, and Conway's day goes downhill fast from there. Mirk tries to compensate for the Commander's bad start by serving him Flarn war-brew in place of jamaican coffee and just succeeds in pissing the Commander off even further.

The Aerostar recieves a distress call from a Sulani vessel, trapped in what appears to be the Nexus ribbon, to the chargrin of Doctor Browning, who wants to plow in headlong and rescue their frozen yoghurt maker. Fortunately, Aerostar is equipped with tractor beams and is able to begin pulling the stricken Sulani vessel out of the ribbon.

Conway knocks Hartley unconcious and transports himself directly into the Nexus, finding himself in a recreation of a Wal-Mart store, circa 20th century.

Baxter, along Peterman and Browning all dash to his aid, once they discover what Conway has done, beaming themselves directly into the energy distortion after their crewmate. Baxter's mind however takes over, and he finds himself in the center seat of the USS Secondprize during it's encounter with Bozo of borg and the clown collective, complete with Lieutenant Alexander Rydell of Inventory. Baxter naturally loses the battle against the Borg cube, and as the Secondprize is destroyed around him, finds himself transported to a log cabin in the midst of a quiet woodland in the company of Captain's James T. Kirk and Jean Luc Picard (the latter expressing his dislike of the former on numerous occasions). They are joined by Guinan and Tolian Soren.

Doctor Browning regains conciousness immersed in a chocolate sea, surrounded by marshmallow islands, whilst Peterman returns to her childhood home, complete with her parents. Guinan appears to her and spurs her on to meet up with Baxter, whom she meets as he is engaged in escaping a story telling torture session hosted by Picard, for the benefit of his captive guests. Browning, having eaten the entire chocolate ocean et al, awakens on a grassy hillside above Kirk's cabin and is drawn back to her Captain and Peterman by the smell of scrambled eggs.

The trio catch up with Conway in his Wal-Mart fantasy and have little luck in getting him to remember his former life aboard the Aerostar or in getting him to leave the nexus until he is attacked by a golden retriever which finally triggers his memory of Charlie. Baxter, Peterman Conway and Browning leave in a puff of reality, just as Kirk, Picard, Guinan and Soren arrive at Wal-Mart to purchase a copy of Star Trek: generations, Picard lording it over Kirk that his series lasted 7 seasons whilst Kirk's never even lasted 4.

The senior staff organises a party on the holodeck for Conway's birthday, by recreating the Wal-mart of his dreams in minute detail. However, just as they are all leaving the party, Hartley sabotages the holodeck, and locks Conway in with a horde of evil snapping retriever puppies, declaring it his Birthday present from her.

First Officer of the Explorer. Birthday Stardate 51240.3. Conway is a moody, cranky officer that wants only one thing--power. Raised on the Mars colony, Conway practically grew up teething on a phaser. Not because his parents wanted him to be a starfleet officer, as Baxter's had, but because HE wanted to be a Starfleet officer. He's craved the power of command since he could crawl into a command chair. Aboard such vessels as the USS Garrison and USS Darwin, he's found new and exciting ways to kiss up to his superior officers. After becoming Baxter's XO, however, Conway hit something of a road-block, since he hates the captain with a passion. He does, however, love coffee, in all its various and splendid forms. Despite all his ambitions, Conway is basically a lazy, shiftless soul who can only find true happiness in the form of a black bean, or in one case, ketracel white ("Lost And Founder" [VEX]). Conway left the Aerostar briefly in 2374 to take a position at Wal-Mart inside the Nexus Ribbon Don't they have a way of popping up EVERYWHERE! ("Wrapped in the Ribbon" [VEX]). Conway's love life has been less than perfect, including being tossed into a gorge by his then-wife Alexa Lanham ("Happily Ever Altered" [VEX]) having the symbiont of his beloved Lana Shar shoved inside him, only to have it taken away ("The Host With The Most" [VEX]) and having Shar's successive host, Tyra, boss him around and try to kill him ("Keep Your Friends Close..." [VEX]). He also flirted with the idea of dating Doctor Janice Browning on a couple occasions ("Love Hurts" [VEX], "The Best Times We Never Had" [VEX]). Conway spent a brief stint as First Officer of the USS Secondprize during an exchange program in 2375 ("Of Gods and First Officers" [TRK]) only to completely botch a first contact. Conways joys other than coffee include NASCAR and the Ancient Rock of Earth's late 20th century. He has one dog, a Pembrooke Welsh corgi, Bucky. Conway's savior seems to have come in the form of command of one USS Aerostar-A, but as to his success on that ship...that's anyone's guess.

Dave's one of life's "take it easy" guys. So much so that he didn't even realise that he'd enlisted for Starfleet until he was declared AWOL and a security team was sent out to bring him back to the academy. (He thought he'd been signing a petition to end the mistreatment of humans of over 6 foot height.) Once in the Academy, it was discovered that whilst not actually stupid, Dave spent most of his days drifting through life as though nothing really mattered. (Which when you're three times the size of a normal guy, nothing actually does matter, except finding shoes that fit.)

He'd been drifting from posting to posting, always in security and always front line (When on landing parties, anyone who might've been looking to notch up a few 'Redshirt' kills promptly forgot about bravery or honour. Even fully enraged Klingon warriors cowered in fear, not of the big man himself, but his flatulance was legendary across the three big powers of the galaxy.) Eventually, he came to the notice of the Admiral in charge of the USS Devonshire project, who simply thought he looked too large to take up three spaces on any other ship of the fleet and immediately promoted the giant to head of security aboard the delapidated ship.

To date, Dave's managed to terrify five of his crewmates, recruit the only live sniffer dog in the fleet to the ship, tackle an entire battalion of Klingon warriors, manually handle a Vampire invasion of his ship, investigate the death of a crewmate, scale Big Ben singlehanded and bungee jump from the London Eye. Not bad for a Devonshire farm boy....

In 2274 he fell foul of an icident aboard the ship on her way back to Earth from Vulcan after the Gamma Sigma affair, in which a Medusan cargo container dropped from a great height onto his less than soft head. The container split and Dave was doused in multi=phasic radioactive isotope goo which phased him from "our" reality into one totally different, (A situation which he wasted no time at all in exploiting to the full). He was eventually placed into the care of the Medusans to reverse his singularly unusual plight, but when he eventually regained consciousness he/she discovered that things weren't exactly as they should be...

Synopsis
With the search for supplies and fuel sources utmost on their minds, the crew of the now stranded USS Aerostar find themselves picking through planets in the Delta quadrant aided and abetted by the now complacent Mirk and his knowledge of the local systems.

Having discovered, tested and discarded a number of D-Cell batteries in their quest for alternate fuel supplies for the ship, they discover a planet which Mirk tells them houses an "a vast and mysterious form of power". Of course, rather than minding their own business, Baxter orders the Aerostar crew to stick their noses in and beam down to the planet in search of this power in the vain hopes it could just possibly send them home. Wrong!

A series of Bio-metric gel packs are filled with a natural biometric plasma discovered on the planet, and in typical starfleet style, are just plugged into the Aerostar's computer networks without so much as a single sensor scan. The gel collected from the planet gains permanent sentience in the ship's computer, turning against the crew of the Aerostar and imprisoning most of the COmmand crew. Richards and Browning escape, heading back to the planet in a runabout to try and discover a way to beat the gel-creature by using it's natural predators against itself.

On the ship, Counsellor Peterman discovers the holographic bartender in a state of dispair, and offers him her professional services to try and perk him up. She results in causing the hologram to permanently delete his program, and in his parting speech he reveals to the startled Counsellor that the crew are "all failures, and you will all die. All at once, or one by one." With the bartender out of commission, Mirk decides to take action, and enlisting Hartley's reluctant assistance, they set out to repair the Aerostar's transporters in an attempt to get to engineering and activate the backup computers.

On the planet, Richards has a close encounter of the sensual kind with what he thinks is Browning in a darkened cave. Sadly, it turns out that the natural predator of the plasma is a shapeshifter which has taken her form and is using a kiss to sap the engineer's life force. Browning awakens in time to sav ehim by trapping the creature in a stasis field devised by the engineer himself. Once the creature is captured, they head back into space, and set course to chase down the Aerostar which had left the system.

On the ship itself, the gel packs reach their destination, opening fire on a clump of asteroids, which quickly shapeshifts into a replica of the Aerostar herself and returns fire, with globs of metamorphic plasma which transform to mimic crewmembers as they attacth to the hull and start to leech power from the real ship. Larkin takes control of the computer systems after Mirk miraculously survives a fall down the warp core to make it to the override controls, and uses the warp engines to flush plasma into space and dislodge the attackers. With the computer disengaged from the main systems, Larkin destroys the fake Aerostar with torpedos and changes heading back to the planet.

On route, they collect Richards, Browning and the re-vitalised and escaped shapeshifter from the shuttle. Having attacked Richards again on the shuttle, the shapeshifter has now taken Browning's form and is actively engaged in a battle royale with the doctor herself. The "Not-Browning"'s presence succeeds in gaining the attention of the gel-pack creatures, who dislodge themselves from the computer proper, and start off for the bridge. Once there, the Shapeshifter and the plasma creature combine to form a new, third creature, which announces that it now has a mission to unite the people of the planet and oozes out the window leaving the crew stunned and silent.

Mirk takes over the bar due to the demise of the holographic bartender, Hartley discovers a love of four legged fluffy companions (Charlie) and Richards and Browning have their first date. The Aerostar flies onward in her quest to find a way home.
