			When Captain [[Alexander Rydell]] takes [[Karina Durham]] along on a diplomatic assignment to meet with the Prime Grenii of Fresielia, he stumbles into a little bit of information about Durham's past: the Fresielians have sentenced her to death. Rydell is able to deal with the situation and, in return for the Fresielians dropping that whole death business, diverts the [[USS Secondprize]] to the nearby world of Bramilis, so that Durham can perform a task for the Fresielians. This event increases Durham's frustration that she has no real role on the Secondprize and no idea what she really wants to be doing.


			Meanwhile, Commander [[Scott Baird]] and Lieutenant Commander [[Emily Sullivan]] leave the Secondprize in a shuttle bound for the [[Deneria Dry Dock]], where Baird will be interviewing for the post of Supervising Refit and Repair Officer. En route, the shuttle slips into a hole in space, but Baird and Sullivan are too...um...occupied to notice.


			The Secondprize detects the disappearance of the shuttle and diverts course to investigate. They find the anomaly that the shuttle disappeared into, but they cannot retrieve the shuttle. Soon another ship approaches, this one carrying Frakk, a talent agent, and his client, the Astounding Aromanchi. The Astounding Aromanchi is doing a magic show for Krinokom, and his main feat is making an asteroid traveling at warp speed (they fitted engines on it) toward Freiselia disappear. The Secondprize crew is not impressed, since it will be disappearing into a spatial anomaly, but Frakk swears them to secrecy (threatening them with all kinds of lawsuits if they divulge the truth) and tells them they have three hours to get their shuttle back before the asteroid arrives.


			The Secondprize is able to rescue the shuttle with minutes to spare. It's a enough time to get Baird and Sullivan to Freiselia to watch the show in person, which they relish, since Frakk and the Astounding Aromanchi miscalculated slightly. The asteroid gets wedged in the hole entrance, and Baird denounces the the Astounding Aromanchi as a fraud. Frakk and the Astounding Aromanchi escape the angry Freiselians but end up in the clutches of the even angrier Klingons of Krinokor.


			Durham performs her task for the Freiselians, Baird gets his interview rescheduled, and Rydell has two proposals for Durham. First, he kicks out the [[Guinanco]] manager, [[Jemmy Fisk]], and asks Durham to take over running [[Seven Backward]]. Second, he asks her to marry him. She accepts on both counts.

A death warrant, a missing shuttle, and an asteroid barrelling toward a heavily-populated world are all on Captain [[Alexander Rydell]]'s agenda for the day. But they may all be child's play as he prepares to take on the biggest challenge of his life.
