			==Author's Notes==

			This episode marks the introduction of several new characters, most notably Lieutenant Commander Stevens as acting head of security and Commander [[Harriet Thompson]] as replacement first officer - replacing the charismatic and much loved (choke!) [[Roger Whiteford]] who has been court martialled and inadvertantly kicked onto Admiral Kirk's staff... Only bad things can come from that.

			We also finally get the ship fully fitted out with a scientific detail, led by Lt. Maxervall, an academy drop out with a penchant for anything which is likely to go boom! and an ingrained coward to boot, and consisting of some of the most inept and frankly disturbing scientists which the fleet could find and bundle aboard. We also find that some cadets are just not up to even the Devonshire's standard..... more on them later in the season!

	With several crew dead, dying, marooned, mentally unbalanced or just plain lost at sea (Can you say that on a starship?) The [[USS Devonshire]] needs restaffing. (And refitting - AGAIN!). Stuck in the Starfleet detailers offices, Stone et al find a unique means of solving their manpower problems, and even find that not everyone is cut out for the haphazard life led by those amongst starfleet who should be forgotten.
