Jad Vorezze
Childhood
The child of two Starfleet admirals, Vorezze seemed destined to join the ranks of the Federation's finest himself. His childhood was spent away from his native Betazed and largely in the company of Humans. He learned to suppress his telepathic powers early on to avoid being a know-it-all outcast, but this made it hard for the young Vorezze to make friends. He learned to become a loner early on because of this. (Upstarts [BAN]) An accident when he was younger left him virtually blind without glasses, though later in life another accident would restore his vision. (Where Angels Fear to Tread, Part Three [BAN]).
Early Starfleet Career
Always an admirer of Jean-Luc Picard, Vorezze's first assignment was on board the Enterprise-D, where he developed a deep respect and longed to mirror Picard's greatness someday (What a Q-Tee [BAN]). During the Dominion War he was first officer of the ill-fated USS Rameses, which crash landed during a battle with the Dominion and, following the death of her captain, forced Vorezze to take on his first true command situation. He was rewarded for his bravery (and lucky that Starfleet was short on captains) by assuming command of the USS ''Banshee''.
On the USS Banshee
To say Vorezze's first year commanding the Banshee was rocky might be an understatement. During that first year he was almost assimilated by the Borg (Resistance is Futile [BAN]), trapped on a planet that turned people into monsters (Until Dawn [BAN]), and was briefly dead until the afterlife decided they didn't want him (The Dark Fleet, Part Two [BAN]). The near-death experience led to the growth of his personal life when he became romantically involved with Lieutenant Commander Tagel Axik, the Banshee's operation's chief.
During his second year of command, Vorezze learned he was to be the father of Axik's child, and much of the year was spent in preparation for that event, which included some unwanted advice by Q (Q-Tips [BAN]). Vorezze was held captive on the Banshee when rogue Jem'Hadar forces hijacked the ship. During the encounter he was shot in the head on stun with a Jem'Hadar disruptor, and the shock managed to correct his long defective vision. (Where Angels Fear to Tread, Part Three [BAN]). He was later taken prisoner again by Arigo Kolem as Mr. Kolem attempted to use captured Banshee crewmembers to expose the truth about Section 31. He was later rescued by his crew. (The Truth Is Out There, Parts One & Two [BAN]). Vorezze was captured one last time in an increasingly capture-prone year during a banquet held on Starbase 1534 above planet Viranis. That capture led to a brief unraveling of his relationship with Commander Tagel, though the situation mended itself even though the mission itself failed. (Upstarts [BAN]).
