Great Red Spot

Era spanning atmospheric disruption in the upper layers of the atmosphere of the planet Jupiter. The Great Red Spot was destroyed briefly in 2273 by the Great White Smoke Ring which in reality was the pressure wave and radiation belt from the explosion of the Warp core of the USS Devonshire which had accidentally ejected itself whilst the ship was in orbit of Jupiter Station.

Tourism slumped for a few days at Jupiter Station until new memorabilia of the Great White Smoke Ring could be manufactured. On the very day that the new items went on sale, the Devonshire returned to Jupiter, and restarted the Great Red Spot with a photon torpedo loaded with Harcourt Fenton Mudd's latest cocktail beverage. The Great White Smoke Ring was totally destroyed in the blast, leading to the Devonshire's banning from Jupiter Station for the forseeable future.
