This is what should have happened during 2 of 20's assimilation too. But his base species uses a drug, G'floo, which has a tendency to screw up the neural realignment part of the process. Drones can be perfectly normal, perfect spare parts, or somewhere between.(Great to G'floo! You BRG).

2 of 20, hardcore G'floo addict (Captain's Tale (REJ)), falls in that last category, functional enough to be put to work, even be the head of Assimilation hierarchy, although he is prone to some...incidents. 2 of 20 has been Assimilation at least once (Captain's Tale [REJ]), during a time 4 of 8 had also been Captain.
