Dr. Lenik was a Romulan geneticist and member of FOBBER. She hated Vulcans and was disgusted by the rise of RommaVulc beliefs among young Romulans. Determined to do something about it, she set up a small lab on a secluded world to work on a bioweapon that would kill Vulcans and not Romulans. After years of research and work, she finally happened upon a solution. She had just synthesized the first small vial when a raceabout carrying Reginald Bain and two others crashed into her lab, destroying everything. The other occupants of the raceabout were killed on impact, but Bain survived and pulled Lenik to safety. She was badly injured, but Bain did his best to take care of her, find her food, and keep her entertained with story after story after story. After two weeks, Lenik was ready to kill him. Just as she was about to stab Bain, he vanished in a transporter beam. She was beamed up to a Starfleet ship as well, and Bain kept her company for two more days as they took her back to Romulus. Some time after that, Lenik put a plan in motion to destroy Bain. (The Bain Of Our Existence [BG])
Said plan involved Cole Anfibon, a clone of Bain that Lenik created and sent to get close to Lieutenant Shelly Marsden. While Anfibon was aboard the USS Anomaly, FOBBER set off an explosive on Dulcolax Three in the Federation/Romulan Neutral Zone containing transmetaquantaprotophasic radiation. The USS Anomaly and a Romulan warhawk were both sent to investigate the source of the illegal weapon. Anfibon attempted to murder Marsden before transporting himself and Bain to Gridloo and Pridloo's freighter. When Damm attempted to attack Bain, Lenik killed her. Lenik had plans for Bain to be slowly tortured to death. The Anomaly crew realized what was happening and de-escalated the situation with the Romulans before then chasing down the Pakleds' freighter and rescuing Bain. -Thot-Phul, Lorgander Delk, and the Pakleds were taken into custody. Lenik and Anfibon were killed when the freighter exploded. (Good Fences Make Good Neighbors - Part One, Good Fences Make Good Neighbors - Part Two [BG])
Lenik had a back-up plan. After her death, an operative gave Centurion Nortal what appeared to be a green gem. Inside was actually a genetically-modified creature designed to rip through metal and remain invisible to sensors. Dr. Natalia Kasyov discovered that Lenik used Earth crocodile DNA in the creature and created a hologram of Steve Irwin to help Bain capture it, at which point it was relocated to an uninhabited world covered in swamps and rivers.
