Centurion Nortal was the tactical officer of the Romulan scout ship Tyvek. She was the child of a Romulan senator, but this did not help get the Tyvek good assignments. While exploring the Delta Quadrant, the Tyvek was lost to the Lucinda entity, but Nortal and the other officers were able to escape to a nearby habitable planet. They were nearly eaten by a family of the planet's inhabitants but were rescued by the USS Anomaly. After the Anomaly dealt with Lucinda, Romulan High Command insisted that Nortal and the other Tyvek officers stay aboard, so the Romulans would be more involved in the Anomaly's day-to-day operations. Nortal served as one of the Anomaly's tac-ops officers. (Bold Faced Lies [BG])

Nortal accompanied Captain Reginald Bain, Lieutenant Commander Tovar, and Commander Prosak to Vulcan in the USS Navigator in an attempt to get to High Chancellor Sh’rak. Sh'rak knew they were coming, and the team only avoided being killed because of a timely intervention by Rosalyn Bain. Rosalyn wiped Bain, Prosak, and Nortal's minds of the incident and had Tovar get them out of Sh'rak's office. Outside, they were stopped by several armed Vulcans. Before they could call for beam out, they saw the Navigator crash into a mountain in the distance. They were rescued from capture by Sh'rak's guards by LOL, which beamed the away team, minus Prosak, up to their ship. While Bain returned to the Neutral Zone to take command of the Federation fleet, Nortal and Tovar remained behind with LOL to try to stop Sh'rak and rescue Prosak. While shopping at an open-air market on Romulus, Nortal with given what appeared to be a green gem by a mysterious man who told her that it was a gift in honor of her efforts to free Romulus from the Vulcans. In actuality, the gem contained a creature designed to rip through metal and remain invisible to sensors. It hatched and grew to three meters tall, at which point it viciously attacked Nortal. She survived and was beamed to sickbay by Dr. Fred Nooney. (What A Ripper! [BG])

After Toflay threatened to smite her if she didn't get out of his kitchen, Nortal became interested in this particular past life of Tovar's, but he refused to summon Toflay for her. (Living Off The Land [BG])

After the Anomaly found itself inside a pocket universe containing the Multek Enclave, Nortal, Remax, Vioxx and Lieutenant Bre'zan Brazzell took the Allegra to see if they could get help. They encountered the barrier at the edge of the pocket universe that severely damaged the Allegra when Nortal opened fire on it. They were able to make it to the nearby Edgeworld, where they crashed. They went to the resort complex on Edgeworld looking for parts and also found a stasis tube containing a Dillon Consortium attorney named Tori Burke, who had been left there twenty years ago to supervise renovations that never ended up happening. While Nortal repeated stunned Burke, Remax and the others looted the complex and got the Allegra back into space, at which point they restored contact with the Anomaly. Captain Bain ordered them to try to stop a massive robot that had formed from the structures on Bradley Dillon's CasinoWorld as part of the Dillon Consortium's plan to take over the Multek Enclave. The Allegra was outmatched, but they were able to sever the robot's head from its body. Vioxx, Remax, Nortal, and Tori Burke beamed onto the robot. Once there, Remax realized that, since the robot was formed from a casino, it would shut down to protect the Consortium's profits if it started losing too many credits. He rigged a couple slot machines, and he and Nortal were able to win enough for the robot's shutdown program to engage. Later, he and Nortal went to spend their winnings on Waystation Prime. Nortal went to the Days of Fryer Past restaurant on Nelephron with Bain, Vioxx, and Lieutenant Shelly Marsden for what was supposed to be an official meeting but was actually a Dillon Consortium trap. Tori Burke, who was now the Consortium's CEO, and several of her guards arrived, and she revealed her intention to brainwash Marsden into helping the Consortium reverse engineer the anti-singularity drive while the rest of the crew were killed (after a long period of torture in Nortal's case). Nortal attacked Burke, her, and the room was quickly engulfed in a firefight as Burke threw her off and retreated to a booth. Nortal and Bain focused on stunning the guards, then Nortal shredded the pants of the CEO suit that was partially controlling Burke while Bain destroyed the suitcoat. Burke was taken into custody, and the group returned to the Anomaly, which had also escaped a trap set for it. (Welcome to the Party [BG])

When Nortal and the other Romulan officers on the Anomaly were recalled to the Empire, she was sad to leave Toflay and, after hugging Tovar at the going away party, asked him to tell Toflay that she would see them in their next lives. Later, while imprisoned on the Manamanat, Nortal and Vioxx used replicated utensils to take on Thot-Phul and the Breen that had taken over the vessel. After defeating a Breen security detail, they went to the Manamanat's bridge where Nortal grappled with multiple officer as Vioxx fought Phul. Nortal was victorious, and the Anomaly arrived to take custody of the Breen. Following these events, Nortal returned to the Empire with Commander Vioxx and the others, and she continued to serve as the tac-ops officer on Vioxx's new command, another scout ship.
