Tori Burke
Tori Burke was a Dillon Consortium attorney who was sent to Edgeworld to oversee the renovation of the Multek resort to Dillion Consortium specifications. She was sent in a stasis tube with the idea that she would be awakened when the construction crew arrived. Before the crew arrived, the entire Multek Enclave vanished, taking Edgeworld and Burke with it.
Twenty years later, Burke was awakened when Commander Vioxx, Sub-Commander Remax, Centurion Nortal and Lieutenant Bre'zan Brazzell arrived in the resort to find parts for the crashed Allegra. She was shocked to learn that she’s been in stasis for twenty years and otherwise combative with Vioxx and his team, particularly when she realized that they were there to strip the place for parts. Vioxx ordered Nortal to guard Burke and stun her if she tried anything, which resulted in Nortal stunning Burke multiple times while the rest of the team looted the resort for anything of use. They took Burke back to the Allegra, and, after making repairs, launched back into space, at which point they restored contact with the USS Anomaly. Captain Reginald Bain ordered them to try to stop a massive robot that had formed from the structures on Bradley Dillon's CasinoWorld as part of the Dillon Consortium's plan to take over the Multek Enclave. The Allegra was outmatched, but they were able to sever the robot's head from its body. After the robot demanded that the Allegra turn over the Consortium employee it detected aboard, Vioxx realized that Burke must be transmitting some sort of signal. They found a subcutaneous chip in her and mimicked its signal, so the robot ended up beaming Burke, Vioxx, Remax, and Nortal into a cramped room filled with slot machines. Once there, Remax realized that, since the robot was formed from a casino, it would shut down to protect the Consortium's profits if it started losing too many credits. He rigged a couple slot machines, and he and Nortal were able to win enough for the robot's shutdown program to engage. Once the crisis was over, they returned to the Anomaly then traveled to Waystation Prime. While there, Burke told Vioxx that she was going to make it her mission to ensure that the Consortium destroyed him. (Welcome To The Hotel California, Contractual Obligations [BG])
Consortium CEO Jackson Loomis assigned Burke to get close to Bain's crew and gather information. Burke approached Vioxx, since he was the one who had been the nicest to her, and accepted his invitation to dinner. She ended up being kidnapped along with several of the Anomaly's crew as part of Loomis' plan to brainwash them against Bain. Once Burke and the others were rescued by Waystation Prime security, she went to find Loomis, who had just ended up accidentally and fatally electrocuting himself during a fight with Bain. Before he died, he passed the CEO suit containing the minds of his predecessors on to Burke and made her CEO. She continued the Consortium's efforts against Bain, assigning Snotch to stay close to Commander Prosak to gather information. (Legend of the Bain [BG])
Burke ordered Snotch to go with the USS Anomaly when he learned from Prosak that the ship was abruptly leaving. Snotch was not able to tell her much except at the very end of the trip, when Bain said the name Pliggeri to him. Burke took that to mean that the Pliggeri homeworld had been found, and she decided to destroy Bain by making him and the Anomaly irrelevant. She sent ships to find the homeworld, determined to develop an anti-singularity drive that she could then sell to the highest bidders. (Primary Sources [BG])
After learning that the Anomaly would be attending a meeting on Alkor Six, she had a message purporting to be from Starfleet sent to the ship, changing the location to Nelephron and, more specifically, the Days of Fryer Past restaurant, which no one ever went to. Bain, Vioxx, Nortal, and Lieutenant Shelly Marsden beamed down to the restaurant while the Anomaly, under the command of Lieutenant Commander Tovar was lured away to a nearby asteroid field by a fake distress call. Once there, the Anomaly was disabled by an interference array hidden in multiple false asteroids while Burke and several of her guards went to the restaurant where she revealed her intention to brainwash Marsden into helping the Consortium reverse engineer the anti-singularity drive while the rest of the crew were killed (after a long period of torture in Nortal's case). The revelation that she'd sent a fleet to the Pliggeri homeworld drew laughter from Bain and the others, rattling Burke when she found out the planet no longer existed. She argued with the minds in the CEO suit, which confused Vioxx and prompted him to get Marsden to scan her. Things went downhill for Burke from there when Nortal attacked her, and the room was quickly engulfed in a firefight. Vioxx tried to talk to Burke, but the suit forced her to attempt to kill him. Not wanting the only person who had been remotely nice to her dead, Burke broke free of the suit's control long enough to tell Vioxx to strip her even while she was choking the life out of him. He managed to get the suitcoat and pants off of her, freeing her from the suit's control. Bain and Nortal, having dealt with the guards, destroyed the suit, and Burke was taken into custody. The Anomaly also escaped the trap set for it, and Burke found herself in its brig. Vioxx came to speak to her and said that he would try to come visit her at whatever Federation rehabilitation colony she ended up in. (Welcome to the Party [BG])
