Prosak
Prosak was a Romulan and served as first officer then second officer of the USS Anomaly. She was the daughter of Rorshak, the Romulan ambassador to the Federation, who called her Boogles and has an uncle named Hurlok. Prosak had a keen interest in theater. She was also a RommaVulc, which was looked down upon by most other Romulans.
Prosak served on the USS Encino under Captain Rochelle Lockheed. While battling the Breen, the Encino was saved from destruction by the arrival of the USS Maladventure under the command of Reginald Bain.
When the Hermes-7 prototype was commandeered by Cabral, she was sent on the mission to intercept it, since the ship contained Romulan technology and she was the only Romulan serving in Starfleet at the time. Once that situation was resolved, Prosak remained on board as first officer serving under Captain Reginald Bain. At this point she was 44 years old. (If I Only Had a Brain [BG]) Prosak was the first member of the command crew to experience one of the overly-thorough exams conducted by Dr. Fred Nooney. (One Track Mind [BG])
Prosak accompanied Lieutenant Shelly Marsden to Gyjik's Galaxy Gateway to obtain parts and dilithium crystals for the damaged Anomaly, narrowly avoiding being killed by a particularly nasty clerk droid in the parts bay. (Yes, We Do Indeed Have Something To Declare! [BG])
After some time in Andromeda, Prosak believed that the crew should find a place to settle down and integrate with Andromedan society rather than wage a hopeless battle against the Associates. When the Anomaly and its crew were taken into protective care by the Nabusari, an older race that considered Bain too young to be running a starship and quite irresponsible to have taken a bunch of children out into space, Prosak was happy to stay in their care and actively tried to prevent Dr. Natalia Kasyov and Lieutenant Polnuc from escaping the day care where they'd been taken. (Respect Your Elders [BG])
Bain left Prosak in command when he took the USS Navigator to go rescue Balpar and Loborus from the Associates. After learning from Ensign Yonk that most of the crew agreed with her that they should find a place to settle down, Prosak activated the Emergency Diplomatic Hologram with the goal of having it help the crew find a friendly species and negotiate safe harbor for them. Instead, it knocked Prosak out, took control of the Anomaly, and went to attack the nearest Associates base. Lieutenant Commander Tovar was able to deactivate the hologram. Bain removed Prosak from duty for disobeying his orders. (Transparent Motives [BG])
As the Anomaly was dealing with a massive Associates space station where Cabral was being held, Prosak realized that the Associates ship the Anomaly had been given to make up for the destruction of the USS Caspian might be helpful. She told Marsden, who Bain had left in command while he was off trying to rescue Cabral. Marsden agreed and put Prosak in command while she went off to check the Associates ship. Prosak kept the ship intact, avoiding fire from the station and destruction at the hands of several Associates ships. For her actions, she was reinstated by Bain. (Disassociation [BG])
When Tovar's past lives took control of him and the Anomaly upon the ship's return to the Milky Way galaxy, Prosak forcefully mind melded with him, which allowed Bain to regain control of the Anomaly and subdue Tovar. She accompanied Bain and Tovar to Yyns to see the Polems at the Temple Of Mi Clane, who determined that Tovar had an Interloper, which they would remove and destroy with the Holnym ritual. Tovar convinced Bain to help the Interloper instead, and, leaving Yyns and avoiding capture by a Yynsian fleet. Prosak stayed in command of the Anomaly and helped draw the Yynsian ships away as Bain took Tovar to the Interloper's desired destination, the Ba'ku homeworld. (Mind If I Play Through?, Aren't You Dead? [BG])
Prosak joined the trip to the Nuq'neh Corral dude ranch on Qo'nos organized by Dr. Nooney. While there, she encountered Krard, who asked her to teach him Vulcan ways. When he was disappointed in her logic, he decided to contact the Vulcans ask request that they unify with the Klingons, a request that they accepted. Prosak also ran afoul of Chynok, who warned her to leave Qo'nos. Prosak attempted to debate her about the logic of rejecting off-worlders, but Chynok refused to participate. Prosak instead resorted to challenging Chynok to honorable combat. She was outmatched with the lop'leth blades Chynok provided, but, thanks to a tip Gworos gave her, Prosak was able to send the much larger Klingon into a fit of giggles by tickling her behind her elbow. She ended up falling onto Prosak, knocking the Romulan unconscious. She awoke on a Vulcan ship, where Sh’rak informed her that the Vulcans were taking control of the remnants of the Klingon Empire. Dejected but with a full refund, Prosak returned to the Anomaly, where she and Bain spoke about their concerns that the Vulcan seemed to be building their own empire. (Wagon Train To Qo'nos [BG])
She has portraits of Spock and Drar the Fearsome (A Klingon who was Intergalactic Wrestling Champion from 2457 to 2459) displayed in her quarters. (Diplomatic Immunity [BG])
At the urging of Tovar, who was being pushed to do it by Rosalyn Bain, Prosak was sent to Vulcan to learn more about the motives of the Vulcan Alliance. She posed as a reporter to interview Sh'rak, but he recognized her and used a forced mind meld to brainwash her into assassinating the new Romulan Praetor as part of a plot to break up the Romulan/Federation alliance. Rosalyn stopped her, and, in the ensuing fight, knocked Prosak unconscious. After Dr. Natalia Kasyov and Nooney helped her recover, Bain and Tovar took her to dinner at the Bain family home in England. Despite not remembering that she fought Rosalyn, upon seeing her again, Prosak fled in a panic. (Breaking In Is Hard To Do [BG])
As part of FOBBER's revenge plan against Bain, Cole Anfibon planted a neural interference generator in Prosak's quarters (formerly Bain's ready room), incapacitating her with debilitating headaches just as the Anomaly was facing a tense situation with the Romulans. While Prosak was out of action, Anfibon stabbed Marsden, knocked out Bain, and escaped with the unconscious captain to FOBBER's ship. Once the neural generator was found and destroyed, Prosak was able to resolve the situation with the Romulans and then left Ensign Hector Arroyo in command of the Anomaly while she, Tovar, and Marsden took the USS Navigator to chase FOBBER's ship. They quickly caught and disabled the freighter and beamed aboard to rescue Bain. During this, Thot-Phul attempted to kill her after learning that Prosak was actually the one who had destroyed two of his ships. Bain distracted Phul long enough for Prosak to stun the Breen. (Good Fences Make Good Neighbors - Part One, Good Fences Make Good Neighbors - Part Two [BG])
Prosak was able to stop Lieutenant Polnuc, when he took over the ship's anti-singularity drive and sent the Anomaly careening through multiple dimensions. Soon after that, she was commed by her father. During this conversation, Rorshak did not inform Prosak of the danger that the Anomaly would be facing when the ship was sent to rescue the command officers of the Tyvek. Prosak was nearly killed in a raceabout explosion and then possessed by the Lucinda entity. She later confronted her father about this over a comm, but he insisted that his duty to the Praetor came first. After the Lucinda incident, the Romulan High Command wanted to be more involved in the day-to-day operation of the Anomaly. As part of this, Commander Vioxx was made first officer, and Prosak was demoted to executive officer. (Bold Faced Lies [BG])
After her demotion, Prosak found herself with more free time and decided to pursue dating. She caught Tovar by surprise with a kiss when they were representing Starfleet at a high school career night believing that she would be a better match for him than Lieutenant Jamie Torgerson. Tovar pulled her aside to talk about the kiss, but they were overheard by Marsden, whom Tovar had also kissed during the Lucinda incident. This revelation resulted in a argument between the three of them right in the middle of the gym holding the career night. Both Prosak and Marsden stormed away from Tovar, with Prosak saying that he was not the man she thought he was. While the verbal pummeling was not fun for Tovar, it did get a lot of students interested in checking out the Starfleet table. (The Future Of Starfleet [BG])
Prosak was contacted by Vorak, the governor of the Romulan Colony of Reno and her ex sharal (boyfriend). He was excitable by nature, and summoned Prosak to Reno because he was panicked that the Vulcans were in the process of taking over the Romulan empire. He had no evidence, though, so Prosak left. After learning of a RommaVulc conference to be held on Reno, which Vorak had not mentioned, Prosak returned in the USS Navigator only to be confronted by two warkhawks. Vorak, now acting unusually calm, told Prosak to leave Romulan space or the Navigator would be destroyed. With no other options, Prosak ordered the Navigator to leave Reno. (Rumor Control [BG])
She was forced to move her quarters out of the ready room and down to deck five when Vioxx took the ready room as his office. (God Complex [BG])
Prosak was able to smuggle her father and several Romulan senators out of Romulan space after the Vulcans blockaded the Empire by having them pose as a theater troupe. The Vulcans believed the gambit; although, they hated the show Prosak and company put on. Throughout this, Prosak remained mad at Rorshak for not warning her about the danger Lucinda posed. Back on the Anomaly, she channeled her anger at that and her demotion into a sexual encounter with the just-dumped Tovar. (Once More, With Feelings [BG])
While on a mission to tap into the Romulan sensor network so Starfleet could monitor Vulcan ship movements, Prosak and Marsden cleared the air about Tovar, with Prosak telling Marsden that their encounter was strictly recreational and that she had no desire for a relationship with him. (Uncomfortably Close [BG])
Prosak accompanied Bain, Tovar, and Centurion Nortal to Vulcan in the USS Navigator in an attempt to get to High Chancellor Sh'rak. Sh'rak knew they were coming, and the team only avoided being killed because of a timely intervention by Rosalyn Bain. Rosalyn wiped Bain, Prosak, and Nortal's minds of the incident and had Tovar get them out of Sh'rak's office. Outside, they were stopped by several armed Vulcans. Before they could call for beam out, they saw the Navigator crash into a mountain in the distance. Prosak's mother, Eudora saved Prosak from being captured by Sh’rak's guards and melded with her to make sure that Prosak had not been brainwashed by Sh'rak. Eudora then arranged for them to be captured and taken to Sh'rak, at which time she revealed that Sh'rak was actually a Romulan pretending to be a Vulcan. Sh'rak ordered them taken to a cell, and, as they were being taken away, Prosak recognized him as Harvak. Sh'rak later ordered their executions, but Prosak asked him for a dinner date in order to stall for time to be rescued. Tovar and Nortal did arrive, but Sh'rak took them all captive and grabbed Prosak into a mind meld in which he forced her to do whatever he wanted. The members of LOL stormed the governmental complex, giving Tovar and Eudora a chance to enter the meld. Sh'rak was overpowered by their combined minds, as well as those of Tovar's past lives. With Sh'rak deposed, Prosak was offered an embassy position by the Vulcans, but she turned it down to stay on the Anomaly and instead had the job offered to Eudora. (In One Door, Out The Other, Behind The Curtain, Live Long And Conquer [BG])
She encountered Chynok again when she, Commander Vioxx and his officers, and Lieutenant Shelly Marsden traveled to a Romulan facility in the Yatooi Sector to get the scout ship Allegra, which was being given to the Anomaly to replace the destroyed USS Navigator. While they were there, Vice Admiral Negrek tasked the Anomaly officers with retrieving the Warhawk Zocor, which had been stolen by a group of Klingons led by Chynok. Chynok, Krard, and Bonjar beamed aboard the Allegra while most of the Anomaly officers were off the ship. Chynok attacked Prosak, determined to avenge her defeat at Prosak's hands at the dude ranch. While they fought, Commander Vioxx and several others from the Anomaly took over the warhawk, disabled the Allegra, and took Krard and the other Klingons into custody. (A Hawk In Hand [BG])
Engineer Selex plotted to kill Prosak because he felt that her RommaVulc beliefs and position in Starfleet made her disloyal to the Empire. While he almost convinced Commander Vioxx to kill her in hopes that this would allow the Romulan officers to return the Empire as heroes and get a warhawk of their own, Selex, along with Sub-Commander Remax, finally realized that Vioxx was not going to act and that they would have to kill her themselves. They attempted to booby-trap Prosak's quarters but were stopped by Vioxx, who said that Prosak was not to be killed. Remax considered that to be the end of it and unhappily followed Vioxx's order to clean Prosak's quarters. Selex, however, did not agree and later kicked Prosak down a Jefferies tube that sent her plummeting 25 decks. She was saved by Kasyov, who had joined with the ship's computer and adjusted the gravity in the tube to prevent Prosak from falling to her death. Selex was arrested, and Prosak turned her attention to rescuing Captain Bain, who was to be put on trial by the Breen. The trial was about to move into the torture phase when Bain was rescued by Prosak, Tovar, and Marsden, who beamed him aboard the Allegra. Before they could return to the Anomaly, though, they were all incapacitated by Holo-Kirk. Prosak regained consciousness along with Tovar and Marsden inside a cargo container that Holo-Kirk ejected into space. They were soon picked up by Gridloo and Pridloo, who hoped the stray cargo container held something valuable. They commandeered the Pakleds' ship, and, with Rosalyn Bain's help, caught up to the Allegra before Bain ran out of oxygen. Prosak learned about Rosalyn's Section 31 affiliation at this time. Back on the Anomaly, Prosak was on the bridge when Selex escaped the ship and beamed down to the Breen homeworld. She agreed with Vioxx that, since Selex had done so of his own volition and requested asylum, they didn't need to try to get him back or tell Bain about it (Hollow Threats, Trial And Error, The Bain Supremacy [BG])
While the Anomaly was back in time to prevent Romulus from being destroyed by the Hobus ultranova, Prosak had a brief encounter with her idol Spock. She was pretending to be a Vulcan at the time and was able to get through the conversation without losing her composure too badly. She did, however, ask Spock for his autograph, which he gave her after receiving her assurance that she would not try to sell it. (We'll Always Have Romulus [BG])
During a long layover at Waystation Prime while the Anomaly was undergoing repairs, Prosak met Snotch, a Vulcan who took an interest in her, much to her delight. While on a dinner date with Snotch, they were kidnapped by the Dillon Consortium and locked in a room on a hidden level of the station with several other officers from the Anomaly. A Waystation Prime security team was able to rescue Prosak and the others, and she told Snotch that she thought it was logical for them to continue their dinner date. (Legend of the Bain [BG])
After Prosak informed Snotch that the USS Anomaly would be leaving rather abruptly, Snotch asked to join her on board, much to her excitement. Prosak informed Bain that Snotch had asked to join them, which raised Bain's suspicions. He asked Tovar to give Snotch the VIP treatment, which was code for heavy surveillance. Throughout the voyage, any attempt to gather information for the Dillon Consortium that Snotch made was thwarted, and he kept having to dodge Prosak by having her meditate or read obscure Vulcan philosophers. After she kissed him, Snotch decided that he'd had enough and stayed in his quarters until the Anomaly could drop him off at Matria Prime. Prosak was crushed by the rejection and commed her father sobbing. After this, she asked Bain for to relieve her of her duties for a while, so she could think and reconsider her life choices. (Primary Sources [BG])
She spent days in her quarters after this, and, when Dr. Fred Nooney took it upon himself to help her (Really, he was manipulated into it by Sub-Commander Remax.). He took Prosak into a holodeck simulation of the Wave of Relaxation cruise ship on Pacifica, where Chynok now worked. Nooney had convinced Rorshak to have Chynok released from a Romulan prison, and the Klingon, having reconsidered what she wanted from life, decided that she wanted to have fun in a beautiful place. Nooney hoped this would help Prosak realize that she too needed to figure out what she really wanted. Instead, much to Nooney's horror, she started slaughtering the passengers and crew, starting with Chynok. Prosak's rampage only ended when the bridge cut power to the holodeck. After this, Nooney told Prosak that she had to work through finding out what she wanted. Later, Bain apologized to her for not telling her that Snotch was working for the Dillon Consortium. Prosak said that she liked the idea of Snotch, namely a Vulcan that appreciated her, more than Snotch himself. She needed to figure things out, but she decided that she would return to duty while she did so. (Welcome to the Party [BG])
On the recommendation of Kasyov and Marsden, Prosak tried seeing several counselors from history and fiction in her holopod, hoping for some guidance on what she should do with her life. She finally concluded that she should go full Romulan and drastically changed her appearance, now opting for spiked up hair, tattoos, metallic clothes, and knee-high boots. (Born to Rom [BG])
Over the next several months, Prosak backed off from the more extreme expressions of her Romulan identity but was no closer to figuring out what she wanted to do with her life. She knew that she didn't want to command a starship, so that was something. After Selex was freed by the Breen and helped the Romulans build the Manamanat, he made another attempt at killing Prosak, this time he planned on destroying her and the Anomaly while holding Bain for the Breen, who were sending a fleet of their own. Prosak went to Rosalyn Bain for help, and Rosalyn gave her a holo-imager that allowed her to pretend to be Bain and beam over to the Manamanat in his place. Once there, she mind melded with Selex and discovered how much trouble he was having maintaining the Manamanat's anti-singularity drive. She then convinced Remax and Sub-Lieutenant Zantak to join her in a meld to assist Selex in keeping the ship from exploding. Once the Anomaly dealt with the Breen, Prosak tried to reason with a despondent Selex, then, when she realized Selex planned to push the ship to its limits and kill everyone aboard, she warned Bain in time for him to beam everyone but her and Selex away, since she was still trapped in the mind meld with him. The Anomaly caught up with the Manamanat, and Prosak was able to break out of the mind meld in time for Rosalyn to beam her to safety before the ship exploded, killing Selex. On the journey back to Earth, Prosak returned to her quarters one evening to find Section 31 Section Chief Oscar Gunton waiting for her. He told Prosak that Rosalyn had recommended her as a potential Section 31 agent, and he wanted to know if she was interested. She was and went on to join them. In later years, whenever she saw Tovar and Marsden, they felt that she seemed happy. (Going, Going, Gone... [BG])
