Selex

Lieutenant Selex was the chief engineer of the Romulan scout ship Tyvek. While exploring the Delta Quadrant, the Tyvek was lost to the Lucinda entity, but Selex beamed himself and the Tyvek's command officers to a shuttle. They were able to escape to a nearby habitable planet. Selex and the other officers were nearly eaten by a family of the planet's inhabitants but were rescued by the USS Anomaly. After the Anomaly dealt with Lucinda, Romulan High Command insisted that Selex and the other Tyvek officers stay aboard, so the Romulans would be more involved in the Anomaly's day-to-day operations. Selex served as one of the Anomaly's engineering officers. (Bold Faced Lies [BG])

After hostilities with the Vulcans ended, Selex determined that Commander Prosak had to be killed due to her RommaVulc allegiance. He took this to Commander Vioxx, since he was the ranking Romulan officer. Vioxx at first dismissed the idea, but after Sub-Commander Remax explained how it could possibly lead to all of them being sent back to the Empire and Vioxx receiving command of a warhawk, Vioxx said he would consider it. (Hard Sell [BG])

Selex, Vioxx, Remax, and Sub-Lieutenant Zantak, along with Prosak and Lieutenant Shelly Marsden traveled to a Romulan facility in the Yatooi Sector to get the scout ship Allegra, which was being given to the Anomaly to replace the destroyed USS Navigator. While they were there, Vice Admiral Negrek tasked the Anomaly officers with retrieving the Warhawk Zocor, which had been stolen by a group of Klingons led by Chynok. Selex was injured during a fight between the two ships, and Prosak pulled him to safety. While he was recovering in sickbay, he reaffirmed his determination to kill Prosak and went out into the corridor with a laser scalpel to kill her. Instead, he found that she was being attacked by Chynok. He helped Prosak escape, then, once they were recaptured, grappled with Bonjar while Prosak fought Chynok. They were rescued when Vioxx and the other officers took over the Zocor, used it to disable the Allegra, and took the Klingons into custody. Selex and the Anomaly officers took the Allegra back to their ship. (A Hawk In Hand [BG])

Selex and Remax decided to take matters into their own hands and kill Prosak when it became apparent that Vioxx had no intention of following through. They attempted to booby-trap Prosak's quarters but were stopped by Vioxx, who said that Prosak was not to be killed. Remax considered that to be the end of it and unhappily followed Vioxx's order to clean Prosak's quarters. Selex, however, did not agree and later kicked Prosak down a Jefferies tube that sent her plummeting 25 decks. She was saved by Dr. Natalia Kasyov, who had joined with the ship's computer and was able to alter the gravity in the Jefferies tube to prevent Prosak's death. Selex was arrested and put in the Anomaly's brig. Remax tried to convince Selex to help prevent a war between the Federation and the Breen, but Selex refused. Later, Remax helped him escape the Anomaly and beam down to Breen, where he requested asylum. Since the Breen had just lost Bain, they decided to put Selex on trial instead for attempting to invade their planet (Hollow Threats, Trial And Error, The Bain Supremacy [BG]).

Over a year later, Selex was freed by the Breen in deal made by Admiral Karwrek. In exchange for releasing Selex, the Breen received schematics for the anti-singularity drive that Selex helped develop, so that they could fit the drives into their own ships. Selex supervised the construction of the Manamanat at the Malak Pasala ship yards, and he arranged for it to be taken out by Commander Vioxx, Sub-Commander Remax, Centurion Nortal, and Sub-Lieutenant Zantak for its test flight. Selex had concluded that disembodied brains were required to maintain the anti-singularity reaction and had his removed and put into a sphere that was directly connected to the ship. As part of a revenge plan against Commander Prosak, Selex imprisoned Vioxx and the others on the Manamanat's bridge, sent a distress signal to the USS Anomaly, and, after disabling the Anomaly's anti-singularity drive with a bomb in an attempt to kill Cabral, used the Manamanat to attack the Anomaly. This was unsuccessful, and the ship was heavily damaged. Selex was close to losing control of the anti-sing system, which would destroy the ship. Prosak, Remax, and Zantak helped stabilize things by mind melding with Selex. After the arrival of the Breen fleet of anti-sing ships, Thot-Phul took control of the Manamanat after his own ship was damaged by Captain Reginald Bain and the Anomaly. The combined efforts of the Anomaly's crew forced Phul to surrender, but Selex launched the Manamanat into anti-sing while holding Prosak in a mind meld in a last attempt to kill her. She broke the meld and was beamed off of the Manamanat just as the ship exploded due to an uncontrolled failure of the ship's drive system. Selex was killed when the Manamanat was destroyed.
