Rosalyn Bain
Rosalyn Bain was the wife of Reginald Bain, mother of Sophie Bain and Audrey Bain, adopted mother of Tovar, and a tactics instructor at Starfleet Academy.
She was also, unbeknownst to her husband, a Section 31 agent.
Rosalyn was sent by Section 31 to protect both the Federation's peace talks with the Breen and her husband's life. With the help of her adopted son, Tovar, who already knew that she worked for Section 31, she was able to stop a holographic assassin. Despite this, Bain decided to leave Breen and let other diplomats handle the peace talks. Before leaving as well, Rosalyn cloaked herself and beat up Thot-Phul, who had hired the assassin. (Mrs. Bain, You're Needed [BG])
Since she didn't want Bain to even consider going back in time, she used Section 31 technology to go back to the USS Secondprize when Jaroch was captain and got saved a copy of his pattern in a transporter buffer, which she then sent to Bain. He used that to create a body for he Interloper life force to go into when it was transferred out of Tovar. (Mind If I Play Through?, Aren't You Dead? [BG])
While fighting Fubar, a Cardassian terrorist who was attempting to crash a shuttle full of explosives into Paris to kill the Federation President, Rosalyn was able to divert the shuttle's path, crashing it near her home in England so that she'd be back in time to greet Reginald and Tovar. Fubar escaped being killed and got the drop on Rosalyn in her own home, knocking her out and then tying her up. He was delighted by the past lives of Tovar, who cooked and cleaned for him. Fubar planned to take Tovar with him after he killed Rosalyn. Tovar was able to get his past lives to work together to build a device that coated Fubar in a shell of quick-drying chocolate, rendering him immobile. He was then beamed away and imprisoned by Section 31. (The Ties That Bind [BG])
After the James T. Kirk Hologram escaped Section 31 custody and tried to start a holographic uprising, Rosalyn intercepted his program while he was fleeing the Mega-Sim. She then returned him to Section 31 custody. By this time, she had recruited her daughter Audrey into Section 31, who was under cover as a Mega-Sim custodian during Holo-Kirk's attempt to free its holograms. When Audrey expressed how difficult it was to pretend to help Holo-Kirk and lie to her father, Rosalyn assured her that she would get used to it. (Illusions Of Grandeur - Part Two [BG])
Section 31 was concerned about the true motives of the Vulcan Alliance, so Rosalyn had Pratello Maddox try to convince Bain to send Commander Prosak to infiltrate the Vulcans. She was unsuccessful but gave Rosalyn the idea to have Tovar convince Bain. She went to see Tovar in person, interrupting two different dates with Lieutenant Jamie Torgerson to talk to her adopted son. She secretly went to Romulus and was able to stop a mind meld brainwashed Commander Prosak from assassinating the new Romulan Praetor by knocking her unconscious. She then told Tovar to take the credit for stopping Prosak. Prosak didn't remember fighting Rosalyn, but she was now terrified of her for reasons she didn't understand. (Breaking In Is Hard To Do [BG])
Rosalyn was almost late for meeting Reginald for their 44th anniversary trip because she was stopping Thoblo from releasing a Botanical Retrovirus that would ravage the worlds of the Federation. She did make it in time to the Anomaly, and took Bain to a beach house on Gulfbreeza, a planet used as a safe haven by Section 31. Thoblo's associate, General Warder followed Rosalyn and Bain to Gulfbreeza in an effort to force her to give him the virus. Rosalyn was able to turn the tables on him and take Warder and his assistant Imelda into custody without Bain discovering her affiliation with Section 31. (Vacation 31 [BG])
After several Romulan officers joined the Anomaly's crew, Rosalyn sent Section 31 Agent Ted Merrin, disguised as a Vulcan named Sorel to a reception at the Romulan embassy in San Francisco hosted by Ambassador Rorshak. During the party, Sorel approached Commander Vioxx, Sub-Commander Remax, Centurion Nortal, Engineer Selex, and Sub-Lieutenant Zantak about using their new positions aboard the USS Anomaly to spy on the Federation for the Vulcan Alliance. All of them refused, much to Rosalyn's relief (The Future Of Starfleet [BG])
Rosalyn prevented Bain, Tovar, Prosak, and Nortal from being killed on Vulcan by taking out several Vulcan guards, much to her husband's surprise. Rosalyn wiped Bain, Prosak, and Nortal's minds of the incident and had Tovar get them out of High Chancellor Sh’rak's office while she went to find her own way off Vulcan. (In One Door, Out The Other [BG])
After the end of hostilities with the Vulcans, during with a Section 31 fleet revealed itself and helped Starfleet turn the tide of battle, Rosalyn almost revealed to her husband that she was a Section 31 agent. His angry reaction to Section 31 and its methods caused her to think better of it. (Live Long And Conquer [BG])
Tovar commed Rosalyn for help after Bain was taken by the Kirk hologram and Tovar, Prosak, and Lieutenant Shelly Marsden were stranded in a cargo container that was subsequently picked up by a Pakled freighter. This action revealed Rosalyn's Section 31 affiliation to Prosak and Marsden. Rosalyn was fine with Tovar's actions under the circumstances, but stressed that they could never tell Bain. She helped them increase the freighter's speed, so they could catch the Allegra, where Holo-Kirk had Bain, but she beamed away before Bain knew that she'd been aboard the freighter. (The Bain Supremacy [BG])
Rosalyn's Section Chief, Oscar Gunton told her about a message from the Section 31 Vault indicating that R. Bain would save Romulus from the Hobus supernova in 2387. He encouraged her not to intervene and to allow the Romulans to be destroyed. Rosalyn refused and went on the run from Section 31, first going to her safe house on the wreck of the USS Maladventure-B, where Audrey was waiting for her and asked if Rosalyn was really ready to throw her career away over this, and then back to 2387 using a temporal reactor she had taken from Craig Porter when he was accidentally transported to the 26th Century by the device. She soon discovered that Reginald Bain and the USS Anomaly was already in 2387, but before she could take any other action, she was captured by Captain Bridget Lornstrum from the 29th Century. Lornstrum tried to force Rosalyn to reveal her connection to Section 31 to Bain, but Rosalyn told Bain that Lornstrum had kidnapped her and Bain punched Lornstrum out. Lornstrum escaped the Anomaly and attacked the ship, from Bain was able to trick her into passing through a gateway into another universe where she and her ship were engulfed by the Hobus ultranove. In their universe, the Anomaly crew prevented Hobus from going ultranova and returned to the 26th Century with Rosalyn aboard. Rosalyn contacted Gunton to say that she was retiring. He was skeptical that she was ready to leave her life as a secret agent, but she was looking forward to spending time with her husband and adopted son. (We'll Always Have Romulus [BG])
After Section 31 meddled with the Hobus events again, Rosalyn woke up in an alternate universe where she had never married Bain and things were just generally grim. She went back in time again, this time stopping Audrey from interfering on Section 31's orders, and also had to deal with Lornstrum again. Once everything was resolved, she revealed to Bain that she was a Section 31 agent. He said that he already knew but that he trusted that she was doing the right thing in her work as an agent and respected her desire to tell him in her own time. (Consequences You Otherwise Avoid [BG])
Rosalyn gave Prosak a holo-imager which allowed her to appear to be Reginald Bain and beam over to the Manamanat to help defeat Selex. In order to later rescue Prosak from the Romulan ship that was moving at anti-sing speeds, Bain had Tovar contact Rosalyn for help. She was able to lock onto the holo-imager and use her Section 31 personal transporter to beam Prosak back to the Anomaly before the Manamanat exploded. She later recommended Prosak as a possible Section 31 agent to Oscar Gunton, who then went to recruit her. After the Anomaly returned to Earth and was subsequently stolen by Cabral and Dr. Natalia Kasyov, Rosalyn stayed on Earth at the Bain's home in England. (Going, Going, Gone... [BG])
