The S.S. Hansean is a new Dillon Consortium Merchant Ship, launched on Stardate 178014, registration DCGL-9336. It holds a crew of 32 and is capable of carrying up 300 tonnes in cargo traveling at speeds of up to Warp 9.5.

In addition the Hansean has several smaller raceabouts and shuttles, and the S.S. River Running, a specialized Fast Delivery Vehicle (FDV) capable of delivering smaller packages away from the Hansean at increased speeds.

It is the protagonist ship in Star Traks: The Incongruous Voyages.

Design

Considering the 20 nacelles of the Starfleet flagship USS Enterprise-J the Cocidius class freighter is an exercise in restraint with a mere eight nacelles forming two diamonds of four nacelles to the starboard and port sides of the massive seventy-deck saucer section.

The Hansean is named after the Hanseatic League, an alliance of trading guilds that established and maintained a trade monopoly over the Baltic Sea and most of Northern Europe between the 13th and 17th centuries, and the Cocidius class freighter after the northen British God Roman soldiers equated to Mars (God of War and Hunting) and Sylvanus (God of Forests, Groves and Wild Fields).

Raceabouts

The Hansean has a compliment of three raceabouts: two standard raceabouts named the S.S. Anduin and S.S. Entwash, and the SS River Running, a faster raceabout with special engines upgrades. The River Running has also been called S.S. Celduin, the elvish name for the River Running, though it is unclear as to why the difference in names came about. The raceabouts are named after rivers in JRR Tokien's Middle Earth.
