Marcus Stone

Captain of the USS Devonshire in 2273.

Stone was promoted to Captain from the Starfleet Security corps, not entirely of his own free will, but at the bequest of a new Starfleet Admiral in operations, one Admiral James Tiberius Kirk himself.

Having joined Starfleet at the age of 19, in the midst of a drink fuelled haze (Under this Stone), he'd spent 10 years working his way up the ranks of the Security Corps after flunking Command training by totally destroying the Kobayashi Maru simulator program in an act of total defiance. Stone led an uneventful career, his superiors always averting any request he made for transfer to space-going duty aboard any ship. The closest he got to action was during the Klingon wars when a suspected spy had been apprehended dancing naked in the midst of a Spacedock departure lounge (Unknown to him, the "spy" would become his chief engineer aboard his first command, the USS Devonshire.)

During a particularly boring shift watching the docking complex, an assumed intruder alert becomes the catalyst which launches Stone's career into space. An assault on a soon-to-be Admiral Kirk, and the repurcussions which the skirmish causes, soon prove to be awkward for the Stone and also for Kirk himself, the latter being shoe horned into the Admiralty, the former being then put forward for Command of the USS Devonshire, a recommissioned vessel created by the joining of two ships which should never have been reactivated.

In his first year of command, Stone has discovered that shuttles are expendable, crewmembers aren't, and that the ship he's been "gifted" with isn't exactly top of the line. During the first few weeks in his care, the crew finds themselves in possession of a captured Romulan warbird, a new first officer and the proud owners of the very last sniffer dog in Starfleet (Max)

With a father in a high ranking position in SWAT and a sister who didn't even know he'd been promoted to Captain, Stone doesn't have much room to manoeuvre within his own family. His Father Commodore Stone had sponsored him through the academy and was heartbroken when he failed to perform to family expectations in the command branch, but had come to terms with his less than meteoric ascent in the Security division.

Currently the Captain himself is trying desperately to hook up with the lovely Lieutenant Kathryn Tremane. (Desperate being the operative word here)... Without much success, however, every cloud has a silver lining....

Starfleet Career

• Joined the academy in 2262 at age 19
• Destroyed the Kobayashi Maru simulator suite during command training (Utilising an old divide by zero routine fed into the simulator's science console).
• Transferred to Security Services, due to a covert order placed by Admiral Nogura after the Kobayashi Maru incident, Stone was never to be given "space" duties without Nogura's express permission. (Nogura's daughter was on the trainee command crew who had their records permenantly tarnished by the Kobayashi incident (Under this Stone)
• Assigned to Spacedock security in 2269 after Nogura relented (In reality, the Admiral discovered that he simply couldn't stand the man)
• Instrumental in the apprehension of a Klingon Spy in the main lounge of spacedock in 2271 (Under this Stone)
• Instigated a brawl with Captain James T. Kirk and Commander Spock after the return of the Constitution Class USS Enterprise NCC 1701 from it's first five year mission. The fallout of which included Kirk's forced promotion to Admiral and Stone's promotion to Captain of the USS Devonshire.
