An old friend in trouble leads Samantha Dallas and Batyn directly into the middle of a bunch of old people behaving oddly. Is something nefarious going on? Or are these folks just REALLY into their Bingo night?
Summary
Wally contacts Dallas and Batyn with an urgent summons to come to the Starfleet Fleet Museum on Mars. Wally, who is actually the only M-5 computer still in existence, lives at the Fleet Museum, and he has been noticing that the museum security guards, most of whom are retired Starfleet Officers, have been acting strangely. The guards have fallen under the sway of a janitorial robot who claims to be Anku, a god-like being. The hypnotized guards and the equally hypnotized Dallas take the old Constitution Class USS Republic from the Fleet Museum as Batyn and Wally pursue them to Venus, the supposed-location of Anku's promised land. Batyn frees Dallas from Anku's control, and the pair convince Anku to beam down first. Then, once he has shown that Venus is perfectly safe for his followers, Dallas and Batyn promise to beam the others down and even come along themselves. Anku beams down and is immediately crushed by Venus' atmosphere, freeing the guards from his control.
