Childhood

Jeffery grew up in a small city on Alpha Centauri. Founded by Earth immigrants of Scottish descent, Jeffery was brought up in the ways of bagpipes, haggis and accents.

Starfleet Academy

Jeffery was an enthusiastic engineering student at the Academy. He attempted several experiments in warp field mechanics, but only managed to make his lunch vanish into subspace. It was during this time that he met Chris Stafford, and while the two of them were never very close during their Academy days, they were later posted together.

Early Starfleet Career

Jeffery served on several starships in an engineering capacity, including the Galaxy-class USS Exeter.

USS Silverado

Jeffery was the first potential officer to be contacted when Silverado was being crewed. Knowing that a ship undergoing extensive renovation would need engineering expertise from the start, Admiral Grant contacted Jeffery early. While Jeffery was in fact able to start contributing to the project from the start, this caused serious problems when his friend Stafford was assigned as Captain. Forbidden to inform Stafford of the state of his new command, Jeffery kept the ships condition a secret, sending his friendship with Stafford onto a rocky path.

Shortly after Silverado left on her first mission to Matrian Space, Jeffery became romantically involved with Noel Wowryk. While their relationship was rocky, (including a month-long trip to the brig after Jeffry spiked Wowryk's drinks) that didn't stop Jeffery from perusing it. Interestingly enough, the traits that made Jeffery attractive to Wowryk also drew the attention of the Matrians. Wanting a male figurehead who was devoted enough women to serve them and submissive enough to be controlled, the Matrians kidnapped Jeffery and established him as a brain-washed figurehead. Jeffery was rescued by his crewmates.

While life returned to normal after the Matrian mission, Jeffery carefully reconsidered his relationship with Wowryk, eventually concluding that he deserved better treatment from her. Their relationship improved, until the Silverado crew encountered an alternate-universe version of themselves. In that universe, Jeffery and Wowryk were married. Seeing this, Jeffery tried pushing Wowryk into a deeper relationship. This, sadly, resulted in them splitting.

After splitting with Wowryk, Jeffery left Silverado for a short sprint, working with Sylvia to bring various other Operation Salvage ships up to standard. This mission ended after several kidnapping attempts led Sylvia to return to Silverado. Jeffery resumed his post as Chief Engineer, though he did attempt (unsuccessfully) to become first officer after Noonan's departure.
