For a number of months members of the Star Traks Forum banded together in an attempt to write a story round-robin style. We now proudly bring you the results of our labors, the astoundingly-coherent premiere of Star Traks: Hootenanny!

Summary

Starfleet is outfitting a new ship, the USS Hootenanny, for a very specific mission: party! The crew comes together and is soon sent on a diplomatic mission to Norealis Four, a non-aligned world which until recently had been plagued by a marauding band of pirates. Having taken care of the initial threat Starfleet orders the Hootenanny into the area to continue diplomatic relations with the Norealans.

Pausing only to take on supplies for a party, the Hootenanny arrives at Norealis Four and after bringing the leaders of the Norealans on board for a luau but is confronted by the pirates, who it turns out hadn't been beaten back. The pirates launch a neuronic weapon that incapacitates the crew and computer of the Hootenanny sending them into a nightmare world

History of the Project

On the 14th of Febuary 2008 Alan Decker suggested the idea of a round robin story written by forum members on the Star Traks forum, using a new crew and ship. Posting first creating the Captain, each participant would then each post in order creating a new character, until the second round when the whole of the crew became 'fair play'. The writing of the story itself on the 19th of Febuary and continued until the 6th of August when Anthony Butler provided the final entry for the story. Alan Decker then acted as a final editor combining all the posts into one coherent story and the finished result was posted on the Star Traks: Unleashed page on the 4th of September. (Lensman's birthday of all days....)!
