A strange scientist with a familiar name arrives on board, and a threat from the past haunts a crew unaware of it's existence.
Summary
Starting in 2417, retired Admiral Andrew Baxter is telling his grandchildren of his adventures aboard the USS Aerostar and the USS Explorer. Kelly Peterman calls the children away for dinner, but one child remains, wanting to hear more stories. However Baxter has told all of them, apart from one he promised never to repeat. Forward in 2503 the Hansean has an illustrious passenger on board, geneticist Dr. Pendrick Harold Baxter, grandson of Andy Baxter. At the same time the Hansean is transporting the Fourth Diamond of Cintherion, the most perfect natural diamond ever discovered. While Reimann and Sanchez rekindle their romance and the volatile relationship between Braistway and Sulu deteriorates, Baxter and his assistant manage to steal the diamond, the final and key component of the equipment he needs to reclone Jabobo, a dwarf with a massive IQ who was killed by the crew of the USS Explorer in his first encarnation. Reimann & Co are unable to stop Baxter, who clones Jabobo, but are able to capture them. However, before they can be handed over to the authorities (who are likely to kill Jabobo), an unknown crewman releases Baxter, Jabobo and his assistant, allowing them to escape.

Author's Comments
Amazingly enough the inspirition for Jabobo 2.0 comes from the Vexed Season Two episode Jabobo [link]. I really have no idea why that story stuck with me, one day I just happened to think what if somebody re-created him, and that's how this story happened to be. Some quick enquiries later Anthony was really helpful in giving a bit of background info on that story (though how he remember's these thing's when he's written so many stories, the Jabobo one in particular being quite unimportant, is beyond me) and his ideas about the character and I had most of the pieces I needed for this episode. As a little note, the Jabobo unveiling scene mirrors exactly the one in the original Jabobo, I simply cut and pasted the bit I wanted and changed the names. Seeing as I was using his character I felt it was nice to give a little nod in Anthony's direction, plus it meant I didn't need to bother coming up with a physical description for him. The bit borrowed goes from: The door to the chamber hissed opened, filling the room with mist to You’d never think it was such a complicated science.”
As Alan pointed out the story is based on building up towards the cliff-hangar and the whole raison d'être was to get Jabobo created and to let him escape. I also wanted to reach a climax in the various relationships I’ve been building up.
