Jimsok was a Yynsian and father of Tovar. He and his wife, Tanta, had never wanted children but were badgered into having Tovar by Tanta's parents. Tovar spent most of his childhood with his grandparents, allowing his parents to lead their lives as they wished, which included a lot of travel. One of their favorite places was the Multek Enclave. Tanta's parents were killed in a lava skiing accident, which forced Jimsok and Tanta to perform more parental responsibilities, much to their annoyance.

Around this time, the Multeks, who were in danger of being taken over by the Dillon Consortium, approached Tanta and Jimsok with an offer to live in the Enclave if Tanta helped design a system to generate a pocket universe where they could hide the Enclave. Tanta did so, using each of the Enclave's nine stars for power, and, when the time came to activate the pocket universe, Jimsok was able to get Tovar into a Starfleet Scouts camp on Waystation Prime, even though the boy had no interest in Starfleet. But they were confident that he would be taken care of, and they left to be in the Multek Enclave when it disappeared thanks to Tanta's pocket universe generators.

Around twenty years later, the USS Anomaly accidentally ended up in the pocket universe. Tovar was reunited with his parents, but neither Jimsok or Tanta had much interest in getting to know him. Captain Reginald Bain set a plan in motion to shut down the pocket universe generators and return the Multek Enclave to normal space. It was successful, but then he learned that the Multeks had hidden the Enclave in the first place to prevent their worlds from being taken over by the Dillon Consortium. Bain did everything he could to set things right, and took on an entire Consortium acquisition fleet while Lieutenant Shelly Marsden repaired the pocket universe generator. Jimsok and Tanta remained in the Multek Enclave when it returned to its pocket universe. (Right Where We Left It, Welcome To The Hotel California, Contractual Obligations [BG])
