Dr. Janet Corbair
Dr. Janet Corbair was a 23rd Century Federation scientist. After experimenting on human subjects without their permission and way outside the guidelines of the Federation Science Council in an attempt to grant abilities to those with a high ESPer rating, she was sent to the Candelar Acres rehabilitation colony. Following her release, she was assigned to the SS Clydesdale by Commodore Scott Enwright, who convinced the Clydesdale's captain, Mike Harper to take her on in exchange for repairs to his ship.
On the Clydesdale, Corbair acted as the de facto science officer while also resisting efforts by Ronnie Harper to befriend her. She was very suspicious of Dr. John Smith when the Clydesdale transported him to The Well, and, once it was revealed that he was actually from another universe, she advocated for turning him over to Federation scientists for study. This idea was rejected, but she did find an old tricorder in Smith's belongs after he returned to his universe. She also, without Mike knowing, accepted a job from Commodore Enwright to check up on Khan Noonian Singh on Ceti Alpha Five. Corbair had no intentions of actually following through on it and planned to file false reports. ("Back to the Well" [TOS])
Corbair seduced then drugged a Starfleet geologist in order to steal a part out of his tricorder that she needed to make the one she had function. It tried to call back to Starfleet, rendering it useless to her. ("Antares or Bust" [TOS])
When the crew was taken captive by the USS Ventus under the control of Light, Corbair helped Mike engineer an escape and was able to convince Light to relinquish control of Ronnie. She trapped light in an antimatter containment unit then traded it to Dr. Banarek in exchange for a working tricorder. ("Busted" [TOS])
Corbair secretly scanned Ronnie with her newly-acquired tricorder while playing a series of card games with her, games that Ronnie always won. ("Looking Out for the Little Guy" [TOS])
She was able to conquer the planet Dirt by the sheer force of her personality, partially fulfilling her childhood dream of being Queen of the Universe. Unfortunately, Dirt was under the protection of the First Federation, and Mike had to remove Corbair from power in order to save the ship. He did this by having Smash literally pick her up and beam her back to the ship thrown over his shoulder. ("Reign of the Clydesdale" [TOS])
After Mike found out about the plan to falsify reports about Khan, he forced Corbair to beam down to Ceti Alpha Five to take scans of Khan and the other residents. She was beamed off of the surface by a Section 31 ship. On board, she was able to bargain with Agent Talbot: her life in exchange for a method to create super beings out of people with high ESPer ratings. She had determined that Ronnie was one such person and had Section 31 bring her on board for Corbair to use in her experiments. Corbair was successful in granting Ronnie amazing abilities, but while she was working, the Section 31 vessel was critically damaged in combat and sent crashing to the surface of Ceti Alpha Six.
Ronnie used her powers to send Corbair back to Candelar Acres and wipe any knowledge of her work or the Clydesdale from Corbair's mind. As far as the galaxy knows, Corbair was never released from Candelar Acres and has over 40 years remaining in her rehabilitation plan. ("The Khan Job" [TOS])
