Sorel

Sorel was a Vulcan who attended a reception at the Romulan embassy in San Francisco hosted by Ambassador Rorshak. During the party, Sorel approached Commander Vioxx, Sub-Commander Remax, Centurion Nortal, Engineer Selex, and Sub-Lieutenant Zantak about using their new positions aboard the USS Anomaly to spy on the Federation for the Vulcan Alliance. All of them refused.

In reality, Sorel was Section 31 Agent Ted Merrin, who had been sent to the gathering by Rosalyn Bain to make sure that the new officers serving on her husband Reginald Bain's ship wouldn't be tempted to betray the Anomaly crew to the Vulcans. (The Future Of Starfleet [BG])
