While on a much needed shore leave, Commander Lisa Beck meets a man who brings mystery and excitement into her existence, which, in this case, means dodging phaser blasts while running for her life. Sounds relaxing, don't you think?

Summary

As construction continues on the new Waystation, Commander Lisa Beck decides to go on a skiing trip to Sargonis with her friend, Stephanie Hodges. Before she leaves, Beck is outfitted with the latest in J. Bond ski gear by Bradley Dillon as a thank you for everything she's done for him.

The ski area of Sargonis is quaint, much like a Swiss village, which suits Beck and Hodges just fine. One evening in a local bar, they spot an attractive man, whom Hodges dares Beck to go talk to. Beck introduces herself to the man, learns his name is Banyon Kovacs, and tries to get him to buy her a drink. He refuses and leaves saying as he goes "And tell your boss it's not that easy." She chases after him. Outside, Kovacs is quickly confronted by four muscular gentlemen who inform him that the person he was there to meet is dead. They advance on Kovacs. Beck jumps in and quickly takes out three of the men. The fourth flees. Kovacs is surprised to learn that Beck is Starfleet. She's even more surprised to hear that he's with Starfleet Intelligence and that the attackers were from the Orion Syndicate.

Kovacs has been sent to Sargonis to obtain an item that the Syndicate had stolen from his superiors. The item is in a ski cabin on the side of a mountain. Since Beck can ski, she will retrieve the item while Hodges and Kovacs monitor her from their runabout. Beck is able to get into the cabin, obtain the item, an Astroleague Anti-grav Bowling trophy, and get out just as members of the Syndicate arrive on snowmobiles. They chase Beck down the mountain with her fleeing as best she can with the help of the automated systems in her J. Bond skis. She is able to take out two of the three snowmobiles pursuing her, but the third chases her off of a cliff. Fortunately, Hodges has arrived in the runabout and is waiting for her just below the cliff ledge. The runabout sails away, and the Syndicate members are taken into custody. Beck learns that the bowling trophy is hiding absolutely nothing inside it. It's just a bowling trophy. She informs Kovacs in no uncertain terms that he needs to make things up to her, which he promises he will.

Two weeks later, Beck and Hodges return to Waystation rested and refreshed. She returns the ski equipment to Bradley Dillon and delivers a couple of messages to him that she recorded for herself while she was fleeing from the Orion Syndicate.
