Subspace generator

A device created by Dillon Enterprises Research & Development that created a pocket of space that could be used to hide and transport large objects. The subspace generator was a cube about three foot square. Objects to be placed inside the generator's spatial pocket were targeted on a screen on the device, which when activated, formed the pocket around the targeted object and stored it in the generator. In this way, entire ships could be placed inside an easily-transportable cube.

Admiral Hitori Sulu learned of the existence of the subspace generator through a mole at Dillon Enterprises R&D, and the device became a cornerstone of his plan to replace the Federation with his Next Federation. He sent the Crazy Condor Circus to Waystation to attempt to obtain the device, but they failed (Rook Pursues Pawn; Fish Consumes Prawn [TF]). After this, he contracted with Spaanz and Taanz, who were able to retrieve the device from Karina Durham and Alexander Rydell (The Next Item Up For Bid [TRK]). Sulu copied the subspace generator and mounted several of them to a freighter. He stored his entire Next Federation fleet in the generators and captured and stored Waystation as well. The USS Secondprize intercepted the freighter and damaged the generators, creating several breaches in reality. Rydell and crew were able to shut the generators down, and a fleet of Starfleet vessels was able to force the Next Federation fleet to surrender. (Reality Breach [TRK])

The initial idea for the subspace generators came from the short-lived Star Traks Role Playing Game. Alan Decker ran a game about the Mall of Dillonia, a mall opened by Bradley Dillon that used devices like the generators to create a large shopping space inside a relatively small space station.
