It's a happy day for the Romulan members of the USS Anomaly crew, at least the ones not named Prosak, when they visit Romulan space to pick up their new ship, the Allegra. Before the shakedown cruise can even start, a Warhawk goes missing, and Commander Vioxx and company are asked to lend a hand tracking it down. Will Lieutenant Shelly Marsden and Prosak survive the confrontation, much less Vioxx's crew? And what connection does the Warhawk theft have to Prosak's past? Answers to these questions, plus Andy Rooney....whoops, this isn't Sixty Minutes. Never mind.
Summary
Commander Vioxx, Sub-Commander Remax, Centurion Nortal, Engineer Selex, Lieutenant Shelly Marsden, Commander Prosak, and Sub-Lieutenant Zantak are at a Romulan facility in the Yatooi Sector to pick up their new (Well, refurbished really) scout ship, the Allegra. The Romulan government has gifted it to the USS Anomaly as a replacement for the destroyed USS Navigator.
Just as they are preparing to leave, someone else steals the Warhawk Zocor and blasts their way out of the docking bay of the facility. The Allegra is ordered to intercept. Remax detects Klingon lifesigns aboard the stolen ship. They hail the warhawk, and Chynok responds, much to Prosak’s surprise. After asking how Prosak is doing, Chynok states that the Zorcor now belongs to the Klingons, and then they launch into warp.
Vice Admiral Negrek, the commander of the Romulan facility, explains to the Allegra crew that Chynok is part of a Klingon group trying to rebuild the Klingon Empire. They had been captured and were to be taken to Romulus on the Zocor for trial, when they overpowered their captors, beamed the Romulans to the facility, and escaped with the ship. The Allegra is the only ship close enough to get it back, and Negrek says that Vioxx will be given command of the Zocor if they are successful.
While Selex coaxes more speed from the engines, allowing the Allegra to catch up to the Zocor, Marsden develops a plan to channel energy from the ship’s singularity into the disrupters, which is really their only chance of outgunning the warhawk. The resulting exchange of fire disables both ships’ warp engines, and the chase continues at impulse. The Zocor crosses into the Neutral Zone, and Prosak gives “official” Federation permission for the Allegra to do the same.
Selex is not responding from engineering, so Vioxx sends Prosak to investigate. She finds Selex injured and unconscious. Transporters are down and the area is filling with radiation, so she has to carry him to safety.
The Allegra tracks the Zocor to Galorden Core. Selex awakens in sickbay and is surprised that Prosak saved them. Vioxx leaves the two of them on the ship while everyone else beams down to Galorden Core to determine why the Zocor went there.
The away team find a cave entrance leading into a long since abandoned theme park the Romulans established in the Neutral Zone hoping to draw in both Romulan and Federation visitors. They descend to the cavern below and accidentally activate a ride, which sends them deeper into the caverns.
After playing chess with Selex, Prosak goes to get him something to eat and runs straight into Chynok. Selex reaffirms his belief that Prosak has to die and heads out of sickbay armed with a laser scalpel to find Chynok, who is still upset at how Prosak defeated her at the Klingon dude ranch years earlier, slamming Prosak back and forth into the bulkheads on either side of the corridor. He flings the laser scalpel at Chynok, causing her to drop Prosak. Prosak grabs Selex and flees down the corridor as Chynok and two other Klingons pursue them.
The ride ends, but the away team sees no signs of the Klingons. Vioxx says that they need to get back to the surface because he’s fairly certain they’ve been had.
Chynok, and the other two Klingons, catch Prosak and Selex. Prosak recognizes one of them as Krard, who now goes by Krard the Ridiculously Vengeful. The other is Bonjar, a former waiter from the dude ranch. They take Prosak and Selex to the bridge. Prosak attacks Chynok, and Selex, following her lead, grapples with Bonjar. Before the fight can get very far, Vioxx hails from the warhawk. When Chynok won’t surrender, the Zocor takes out the Allegra’s shields with a few well-placed hits and beams everyone off of the ship.
Back at the Romulan facility in the Yatooi Sector, Vice Admiral Negrek tells Vioxx that he lied and Vioxx is not getting command of the warhawk. Instead, they are to take the Allegra and return to the Anomaly.
Prosak asks Marsden how they got onto the Zocor, and Marsden explains that she used Nortal’s tricorder to tap into the transporter system of the cloaked warhawk. They expect to be returning to the Anomaly without the other Romulans, but reach the Allegra’s bridge and find Vioxx and company there. The Allegra leaves the facility to return to Federation space.
