Ops Chief and Third-in-Command of the Explorer, Kristen Larkin spent much of her carreer as helm officer aboard the USS Secondprize. A clumsily-assembled android with an uncertain past, Lt. Commander Larkin was fascinated with penguins and had a vast database capable of embarrassing her less knowledgeable superiors. She was transferred to the Aerostar in 2374. On the Aerostar her truly distinctive act was becoming, for a short time, the god of a tribe of humanoid penguins. That didn't work out and she had to return to Aerostar. After serving for a year at ops officer of the Aerostar, in the Delta Quadrant, she was made aware that Lt. Commander Chris Richards is her, well, "Mommie," and Chris Henricks, through a diabolical brain-stealing scheme, was her "Daddie." She went on to serve on the Explorer, after Aerostar returned to the Alpha Quadrant and was destroyed, and served with distinction. Notably, Larkin was responsible for going back in time, thanks to a drunken Conway and Dr. Leonard McCoy, and getting a good old fashioned rogering from a misled James T. Kirk. She has kept the sample to this day ("A Stitch in Time" [VEX]). When she presumably gave her life to stop Commander Ardek on Crysta and was re-built, Larkin went on to think of Richards as her father AND mother ("Birds of a Feather", "Starting from Scratch" [VEX]). She got to meet, and was sexually harassed by, Lt. Commander Data of the Enterprise, in 2376 ("Generation Gap" [VEX]). Unbeknownst to her, the her that sacrificed herself to kill Ardek re-surfaced helping Ardek run a casino in Romulan Territory ("Double or Nothing" [VEX]) and then surfaced again after being abandoned by Ardek and after acquiring, certain emotions ("Positronically Yours" [VEX]). Larkin herself acquired emotions too, and to this day cries every time she sees an AT&T commercial.
By the 26th Century, Larkin achieved the rank of Admiral. She had a long friendship with Captain Reginald Bain, which began when he was attending Starfleet Academy. Their relationship was sexual for a time, but that was before Bain met his wife, Rosalyn. Despite their friendship, Larkin knew that diplomacy was not Bain's strong suit. She was responsible for having the James T. Kirk Hologram placed aboard the USS Anomaly before the ship traveled to to the Andromeda Galaxy. (Do You Have Anything To Declare? [BG])
When the James T. Kirk hologram escaped Section 31 custody, Admiral Larkin took command of the Anomaly with the intention of getting to the Mega-Sim before the Kirk hologram could. En route, the Kirk hologram used the Section 31 ship Sloan to attack the Anomaly and send a signal into the ship, that took over Steve! and used him attempt to kill the bridge crew. Dr. Natalia Kasyov was forced to use an electromagnetic pulse, which took out the bridge systems and Admiral Larkin, to shut down Steve! Larkin's nanoprocessors were severely damaged by this, and Kasyov and Cabral set about trying to fix her. Kasyov and Cabral did not get very far before needing to deal with the Sloan again and joining the away team down to the Mega-Sim. Larkin's systems repaired themselves, and she returned to the Anomaly's bridge just as the hologram threat was ending. The Anomaly then took her back to Earth. (Illusions Of Grandeur - Part One, Illusions Of Grandeur - Part Two [BG])
Larkin took command of the Anomaly and a Starfleet task force at the Romulan Neutral Zone when the Vulcans attempted to take over the Romulan Empire. During this crisis, a fleet of Romulan warhawks decloaked behind the Federation fleet and opened fire. Once Bain returned from a secret mission on Vulcan, Larkin handed command of the fleet over to him. (In One Door, Out The Other, Behind The Curtain [BG])
After Bain was taken into custody by the Breen and put on trial, Larkin traveled to the Breen border to try to defuse the situation. After Bain vanished and the Breen declared war, Larkin ordered the Starfleet vessels gathered there to destroy the Breen ships, but Commander Vioxx asked her to hold fire and let him mediate as a neutral representative of the Romulan Star Empire, giving the Anomaly crew time to investigate. Unbeknownst to Larkin, Vioxx and his officers with the help of Kasyov and Cabral discovered that the Breen outpost Bain was accused of destroying was actually a weapons platform. They blackmailed Thot-Mutch into negotiating peace, and Larkin went to Breen to sign the formal peace accords. Bain returned to the Anomaly at this point and gave Larkin the Kirk hologram, which she then delivered to the Fleet Museum where it is displayed in an invulnerable transparent tube and resets every five seconds. (Trial And Error, The Bain Supremacy [BG])
While Larkin was visiting the Bains at their home in England, Cabral and Kasyov stole the USS Anomaly and launched into anti-sing before any Starfleet ships could intercept them. Larkin and several others in Starfleet suspected that Bain was involved in the theft, but the subsequent investigation did not prove anything. Bain and Larkin's friendship was unaffected by the incident, and, as she was for the Bains' children, Larkin was known as "Auntie Kris" by the Bains' grandchildren, including Tovar and Shelly Marsden's son, Jarrett Bain.
