Several months ago, Captain Lisa Beck's dreams were invaded for unknown reasons, but she would not open the door giving up control of herself. The invader hasn't given up, though, and it's looking for a new door.
Summary
To Commander Walter Morales' continuing disgust, Captain Lisa Beck is blissfully happy in her relationship with Phillip Harper. Yeoman Tina Jones tells Morales that he's obsessed and that he should see Counselor Ray Miller about it. Bradley Dillon receives word that John Simms, Jr. will be arriving at Waystation the next day and wants to have lunch with him. That evening, Morales practically attacks the canvas he is painting, making him decide to make an appointment with Counselor Miller the next day. He dreams of Beck. She wants him and urges him to follow her through a red door. Despite another voice in his head urging him not do, Morales follows where she leads.
In doing this, Morales has relinquished control of his body to the Selvan, the same being that tried to invade Captain Beck's dreams the previous year. The Selvan needs Lisa Beck, but he also needs information. Using Morales' body, he goes to the Waystation library to perform some research. At lunch, John Simms, Jr. informs Bradley that he will constructing a new docking arm on Waystation for the exclusive use of Simms Ship Lines. The docking arm will have ships, accommodations and amenities including an OmegaMart, so that Simms passengers will not be going anywhere near Dillon's restaurant. Starting with Waystation, Simms intends to attack Dillon's businesses wherever they are.
Unaware of Morales' schedule, the Selvan is late for Morales' Ops shift. After he is contacted by Beck, he has the librarian download his research onto a chip, then goes to relieve Beck in Ops, so that Beck can head to a date in the holodeck with Phillip Harper. The Selvan makes excuses to Lieutenant Commander Craig Porter and Lieutenant Sean Russell and leaves Ops. Later, Beck and Harper return to her quarters and find a knife-wielding Selvan in Morales' body waiting for them. Beck quickly realizes that this is the being who invaded her dream. Beck attacks, and is knocked aside by the Selvan. Harper steps in, and the Selvan kills him. The Selvan threatens to kill Morales as well unless Beck surrenders herself to him. With no other choice, she gives the Selvan control.
