Security Chief Sean Russell has a problem: supplies are disappearing all over the station, and he can't stop it. The disappearing equipment is only the beginning, though. Soon, the crew starts vanishing as well. What the heck's going on? Who's responsible? Can Russell stop them? Does he want to? Can you get a sunburn on a holodeck?

Summary

Waystation has been plagued by a rash of supply thefts that Lieutenant Sean Russell has been unable to stop. There's a good reason for this. He's actually the culprit. He has been secretly building an automated security system, which he has dubbed Compucop, to monitor activities on the station, allowing Russell to spend more time indulging in leisure activities. Unfortunately, when activated Compucop is a bit too good at its job. Before long everyone on the station except for Lieutenant Commander Walter Morales and Yeoman Tina Jones has been incarcerated for some infraction, no matter how minor, of Federation legal code or Starfleet regulations. Morales takes a runabout out beyond Waystation's scanning range and sends a fake communique purporting to be from Starfleet Command appointing Jones as a judge and updating several regulations. He returns to the station, and they set up court, with Jones presiding over each crewmember's case and using Morales' altered regulations to get each person acquitted...except Russell, who Commander Lisa Beck leaves in his cell to think about things for a while. Morales and Porter are able to shut down Compucop...forcefully...with phasers.
