Lieutenant Vaughn was first assigned to the USS Secondprize as the ship's transporter chief. She also quickly gained a reputation as being something of a seductress. Most of the desirable single men on the ship fell under her spell at one time or another. She and Emily Sullivan were close friends and somewhat competitive at times. Both women tried, unsuccessfully, to learn the identity of the Secondprize crewwoman Travis Dillon had formed a romantic interest in. (Reason to Panic [TRK]) The primary object of Vaughn's lust was Captain Alexander Rydell. Despite their flirtatious exchanges, Rydell continually avoided her advances. (Star Traks 1, Of Gods and First Officers [TRK])
Vaughn was instrumental in helping Patricia Hawkins locate Captain Rydell after he'd been transported off of the ship by Zero. (Star Traks 2 [TRK]) She also played a vital part in Scott Baird's revenge scheme after he learned that Sullivan, Lisa Beck, and Claire Webber had tried to reprogram his brain. Vaughn pretended to be Gretchen Koppra, a terrorist, and she took great pleasure in humiliating Sullivan, Beck, and Webber before revealing her true identity. (Star Traks 3 [TRK]) Vaughn's skill at the transporter also saved the lives of Jaroch and Dillon after a transporter malfunction sent the duo hurtling through time and space. (Beaming There [TRK])
On Stardate 52843, Vaughn and Claire Webber were accidentally left behind when the Secondprize rushed away from Starbase 163. They were forced to use a shuttle to meet up with the USS Ontario, which would take them back to the Secondprize. While Vaughn and Webber were popular with the Ontario's crew, the ship's captain was less than happy to have officers from the Secondprize aboard. His feelings didn't improve when the Ontario became ensnared in a subspace distortion field and was rescued by the Secondprize. (The Star Traks Reunion Special [TRK])
Vaughn grew somewhat resentful of Sullivan as the latter woman's career flourished. Sullivan had gone from ensign to lieutenant commander while Vaughn remained a lieutenant the entire time. On stardate 53646, Vaughn prevented a warp core breach and reassembled the Secondprize after the ship was accidentally split into pieces by an unstable experimental devices. As a result of her actions, she was promoted to lieutenant commander and given the position of Assistant Chief Engineer. (Tricks Of The Trade [TRK])
After Scott Baird accepted the position of Supervising Refit and Repair Officer at the Deneria Dry Dock, Vaughn was promoted to commander and made the chief engineer of the Secondprize. She also married a Nuphelian, a species known for their males' three...um...you get the idea. (Please Hold For Oblivion [TRK])
