Bradley Dillon has made a move that has all of Waystation scrambling to stop him. Meanwhile, Commander Walter Morales is scrambling just to figure out where the Selvan is.

Summary

This story picks up right after The Devil You Know.

Lieutenant Commander Craig Porter informs the remaining Waystation command crew that Bradley Dillon has purchased the naming rights to the station, which will now be known as "Bradley Dillon's Waystation." The Selvan in Captain Lisa Beck's body has the Glyph of Ranit-Del in hand after he stole it from the museum on Vega Two. The Glyph was a relic of an ancient species which used it to hold the life essences of their priests. The Selvan has a different use in mind. He will use the Glyph to get revenge on the Q. Millennia earlier, the Selvan species were transcending their physical forms and evolving toward omnipotence when they were intercepted by the Q. The Q Continuum decided that the Selvan were not ready to be let loose on the universe and trapped all of their consciousnesses in the metaphysical equivalent of a box.

Yeoman Tina Jones goes to see Bradley and learns that she has until midnight to stop him before his purchase of the naming rights takes effect. She just needs to raise 122 million credits between now and then. Stephanie Hodges breaks into Porter's lab and learns the truth about what happened to Beck. Before she and Porter can discuss it, they are summoned to Ops by Jones, who informs everyone that they are going to hold a telethon to raise the money to counter Bradley's purchase of the station's naming rights. Jones and Porter to go the Associated Worlds Network to get them to broadcast the telethon across the Federation.

The Selvan returns to his species homeworld, now barren, and puts his plan into action. He uses the Glyph to combine the essence of the priests stored within it with his own and then uses the remnant in Beck's mind of her time as a Q to attempt to create a bridge into the Q Continuum. While he is able to brush the Continuum, the bridge fails. The contact gives him more information, though, and he forms a new plan.

The Waystation telethon begins. Meanwhile, Morales in the S.S. Penzance intercepts the Runabout Roanoke. There is a brief skirmish, but the Selvan is able to escape. In the plane where her consciousness is trapped, Beck tries to get information from the being that is there with her. All the being will tell her is that she is the bridge. Another voice then tells Beck that she is indeed the bridge, and, that if the bridge is completed, it could mean the end of the universe. Beck turns to see the source of the voice. It is Leximas.
