Lisa Beck's younger sister. During family vacations to their summer house on an island off the coast of North Carolina, Lisa would study while Kathy would suntan or help their mother. (That Sinking Feeling [WAY]) After their parents were killed, Kathy was sent away to live with their paternal grandparents on Oraster Colony while Lisa attending Starfleet Academy. Kathy ran away and returned to Earth, hoping that Lisa would leave Starfleet and live with her in their family home in North Carolina. Lisa refused, which Kathy never forgave her for. (Lost The Way [WAY])
Kathy earned her doctorate and went on to work for Astro-Tech, the starship construction firm that had employed their parents. She traveled to Waystation to meet with Craig Porter about ways to better integrate temporal theory into the construction and functioning of spacecraft. Realizing that Kathy was trying to build a time ship so that she could go back and save her parents, Porter refused to help her. (Estrangers In The Night [WAY])
Kathy returned to Waystation on Stardate 57985 with a working prototype of her time ship. She was prepared to go back and save her parents, and she wanted Lisa to go with her. Lisa agreed, but the trip turned out to be a ruse. Kathy incapacitated her sister and handed her over to the Romulans, who wanted access to Waystation's command codes in order to disrupt a ceremony honoring Jean-Luc Picard. In return, the Romulans promised Kathy access to all of their temporal research. In true Romulan fashion, they instead tried to destroy Kathy's ship as she left the Romulan colony on Zycam. Porter and the USS Wayward interceded before this could happen and ran the Romulans off. After Lisa was rescued and the Romulans stopped, Kathy was put in the brig on Waystation. The temporal research she'd obtained from the Romulans was useless, since Romulan science was well behind Federation science in this area. Kathy was handed over to Federation authorities and sent to the rehabilitation colony in New Zealand. (Just Undo It, Pomp And Circumstances [WAY])
